Technical Warm-Up - 10 minutes (10 mins)

Organization

- 20 x 30 yard grid seperated into thirds

- six players per grid divided into two different groups (one player from each group in a third) with one ball per group

Objectices

- Ball must be played through middle player before going to other end of grid

- Progress to end players making runs (switching ends) with communication to encourage combination play.

Key Coaching Points

- Body shape when looking to turn

- Proper turning technique and touch

- Use different parts of foot to recieve ball/ different turns

- proper combinations for specific part of field

Small-Sided Activity - 15-20 minutes (20 mins)

Organization

- Grid 20 x 40 yards divided in half (20 x 20) set around midfield

- 10 players and one ball

Objective

- Teams try to keep possession in grid and complete 3 passes.

- After 3 passes ball can be played to neutral (N) player on opposite side of grid.

- Players then move into grid to recieve ball back

- On turn over team can make immediate pass to opposite N to counter and organize.

- Progression - Remove neutral and score by dribbling over far line

Key Coaching Points

- Players look to make quick combinationsand break down defense

- Quick touches to mimic play in central channel

- Angles of support when transitioning grids

- Possition of body when recieving ball

Expanded Small-Sided Activity - 20-25 minutes (25 mins)

Organization

- Half field with one full goal and two small 6' pugg goals set up in wide channels at midfield

- 9 field players and 1 goalie

Objectives

- Ball starts at midfield with #5 who combines with two midfielders to make three passes, in their half, before pushing ball to forwards over half line (3 v 2)

- Player making pass to forwards holds in mid-third while other two make runs to support and work to goal with strikers (4 v 2 + GK)

- On turnover defense counters to 2 small goals at midfield

- Strikers/ forwards must play with offsides

Key Coaching Points

- 5,6, & 8 look to make combo's and moveto space forward

- Good accuracy when passing to 9 or 10

- Support angles from players moving forward and shape as play advances

- Movement from 9 and 10 as play progresses to get open or creat space

Objectives

- Start one team in a 1-2-3-1 and the other in a 1-3-2-1

- Progress to everyone in a 1-2-3-1 in final parts of game
