2 Def. Gates (20 mins)

2 Defender Gate Game: Simple version of the gate game tailored to encourage controlled dribbling and RWB. All red players start with a ball dribbling in the designated area. Defenders begin game standing at corner A and corner B. Red players have 30 seconds defender-free to dribble through as many gates as they can. Defenders are then released into the area and must attempt to kick the red players' balls out of the area. If their ball is knocked out that red must run a lap of the are, collect their ball and reenter the area beginning at 0 gates scored.

Coaching Points:

-With no defensive pressure take larger touches to cover distance more quickly

-With defensive pressure keep ball close to feet to maintain control

-Attack defenders front foot

-Larger laces touches to move away after defender is beaten

Mini Gauntlet (20 mins)

Mini Gauntlet: 2 Teams of 4 (Yellow and Red) Each player has a number 1, 2, 3, or 4. When that number is called, the designated player must try to dribble from their area to the opposite team's area without being dispossessed by any of the defenders (Blue). With 2 ball players dribbling and 3 defenders, one of the ball players will always have a 2 v 1 situation to navigate. Players must stop their ball, under control in the opposite zone to remain in the game, so kicking the ball through the defensive zone and running after it will not count. The team with the last player standing wins the game.

Coaching Points:

- Head up, recognise whether you are in a 1 v 1 or 2 v 1 situation

- In a 2 v 1 attack the first defender on the side furthest from the 2nd and attack quickly before defenders can get set

- Reinforce the use of larger touches for speed and smaller touches for control when they reach the opposite zone.

Conditioned Game (20 mins)

Conditioned Game: Backward passes only. Teams can keep possession but passes can only go laterally or backwards. This means that the only way to make forward progress up the field is to dribble. The condition will force players to try to take on their defender using the dribbling techniques covered previously in the practice. Reinforce all previous coaching points by freezing the game at appropriate teaching moments.
