Passing Practice

Football Problem

7,9,10 & 11 are allowing the opposition back 4 too much time and space allowing them to build in a structured manner. 7,9,10 & 11 are not pressing the ball carrier as the nearest man and not limiting passing options from the back.

Session Objective.

In this session I aim to improve my team's ability to defend from the front collectively and individually and to win back possesion as soon as possible and as close to the opposition's goal as possible.

Set up

Cones as shown. 2,3,4,5,6 & 8 for Spain - 7,9,10 & 11 passive defenders for Aus.

Remaining players on 3.

Passes start from 3, player to folow their pass.

As the ball moves Aus shift as a unit keeping the distance between them constant.

After the first pass, Aus 11 should be in a position to close Spain 2. Aus 7 should tuck in and be in position to close 4 & 8

After each pass Aus adjusts their positions, to the point we get back to the start.

Progressions

1st. - Opposite direction

2nd. - Free Passing - add a Spain 10 so all players are involved.
