Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): VSSC Barcelona 4/24 (Start Time: 2014-04-24 18:00:00)

Warm Up (2) (10 mins)

Organization:

Same set up as activity from last session, now starting straight away with defenders patrolling middle area

Instructions:

Goal is still to get across to the other area, now avoiding opposition

Players can turn back to avoid pressure and re-enter their original area

However, if more players occupy one area than it started with, next round, they must even themselves out

Coaching Points:

1. dribble with your head up to see where the opponents are.

2. keep the ball close with your short touches when near players, then longer when you have space in front of you.

3. use the inside and outside of you feet to push the ball into space if another player is dribbling at you

World Cup (15 mins)

Organization:

Players divided into two teams, Blue and Yellow

Blues divided up between two A goals, Yellows divided up between two B goals

All soccer balls with coach on the side

Instructions:

Coach begins game by kicking a ball into the middle

One player from each goal runs out to play, so it becomes 1v1v1v1 in the middle

Each team starts with 3 points

Every goal they concede knocks them down a point.

Last team with points remaining wins!

Coaching Points:

Head and eyes up to see open space/goal

Close control when under pressure

Big touch to penetrate open space and attack a goal
