3v1->2v1 (30 mins)

Setup:

10x10 grids (3 of them)

2 teams of 4

Activity:

Attacking team must make 3 passes in wide grid before transferring ball to opposite grid via a 2v1 in the middle grid.

Attacking team scores by getting ball from one wide grid to opposite one.

Defending team scores by winning ball and completing two passes.

Progression:

+ Add a 3rd defender in the opposite grid to force that attacker to lose their mark.

2v1's to penetrate (10 mins)

Setup:

10x10 grids (3)

Activity:

1 attacker in last zone and middle zone. 1 defender in middle zone to start.

Ball is played square from #6 to #2 where they combine with #7 to dribble/pass into the last grid to score.

Progression:

+ add a 2nd defender that comes from near pass into grids (square)

Coaching Points:

~ Winger needs to lose marker with opposite movement

~ 2 runs: one for defender, one for me

~ If defender marks #7, #2 should drive into space to force defender to make decisions

~ If #7 loses mark, #2 should play ball into feet and make overlapping run

Activity:

Team in possession scores by completing 7 INTERNAL passes in the grid.

Can use outside team to maintain possession but only passes inside the grid count.

Intervals:

4 min work + 1 min rest x 4 games = 20 min

Setup:

2 goals

18x44 yard grid (penalty box)

5 teams of 3

Specify the rotation of teams as the game goes quickly.

Activity:

3v3 in the box.

Team that scores stays on.

QUICKLY rotate to new team where rotation always same. Blue-->orange-->yellow-->etc...

Winner is team that is on at end of interval.

Coaching Points:

~ Aggressive mentality on both sides of the ball

~ Take shots; Follow up on shots

~ Don't have to beat defender; just need to create enough separation to get shot off

2 teams of 10 in 1-4-2-3

Activity:

Normal soccer rules except 3 points for a goal and 1 point for dribbling/passing through a wide gate in the attacking half.

Coaching Points:

~ Can outside players create overloads out wide to score easy points?

~ Does attacking the wide areas open up the center of the field?
