3v1 Warm-up (10 mins)

4v1 Warm-up:

Rules:

- First team to 5 points

- Player in the middle gets one point if they win the ball or if the ball goes out

- Players on the outside get one point if they connect 4 passes.

Passing Progression: How many passes can you get in 30 seconds?

1) Player in middle is passive and players work on movement off the ball while receiving and passing accurately.

2) Can progress to having two balls on outside and middle player has to receive from one and pass it to the other

3) "" as 2 but now players on outside can move to make it harder for player in the middle to receive and pass the ball.

Coaching Point: 3 step rule, always supporting your teammate.

Bunch up to win the ball, spread out to keep it!

U12's: Deft First Touch (10 mins)

Developing First Touch:

Set-up:

4 players: 10 x 10 grid. One ball per outside perimeter player.

Progression: how many passes can you complete in 30 seconds?

Three players on outside with two balls and one player in the middle.

Take one ball out so that there are three perimeter players with only two balls.

1)Player in middle has to receive ball from one of their teammates and pass the ball to other player who doesn't have a ball.

2) Same as #2 but now perimeter players can move after they pass to increase level of difficulty.

Coaching points: How should you receive the ball? Hips open and ball across your body. Players need to scan/peak before receiving the ball. How quickly can you receive and play?

Ball Mastery: (do this for 2 minutes at the start of this session)

1) player makes contact with inside of foot with ball and rolls ball under foot where the sole touches it all by moving forward. Stay with the one foot.

2) player does same thing but alternates with both feet.
