Warm up - Skills (20 mins)

Set Up

Dribbling within area players are encouraged to do as many skills and tricks as they can, when in space or when approaching a player

- Any skills you choose

- Double touch

Progressions

Couple balls have now been taken from players

- Players without a ball need to find space before calling for it (players name wants)

- Players with the ball does one of the skills learnt and looks to pass

Key Points

- Add disguise

- keep ball close when executing the skill

- accelerate once completed

Team Rondos

Set Up

one group in the middle with all other groups together in a circle around them. outside teams work together. When the team in the middle wins the ball they then replace the positions of the team they won the ball from.

constantly changing the teams in the middle, every time the ball is given away.

Progressions

-limit touches to keep the ball flowing

-target for players on the outside to reach and if they do the team in the middle stay in for another go.

Key Points

- combine with short options to draw defender to use the space to play around them.

Sheidling and protecting

groups of 3, first player makes the run in the box to receive a pass

Ball gets played in and player must receieve the ball inside the box

reviewing the main factors when protecting the ball

Key Points

-Arc your run - be able to see where the balls coming from and where youre going

- body infront of the ball

- check your shoulder

- Arm and hands used to protect the ball

Small Sided game - When to Sheild or combine in centre midfield

If a team recieves the ball in the box before entering the end zone they get 3 points

If they enter the end zone without using the box 1 point.

Key points

- Players to be able to recognise the space to recieve a pass

- 3 key ways to protect the ball

1 - use arms and hands

2 - body in between player and the ball legs wide

3 - have the ball on the safe side to ensure opponent cannot nick it

- movement off the ball to ensure combinations moving forward

- angle of support

Game Related Activity - When to sheild or combine in a goal scoring position

3v3 or 4v4 game

Condition:

If youre able to recieve the ball in end zone, turn and score thats 3 goals

Also if you recieve the ball in the end zone and combine for your team mate its 3 goals

All other goals count as 1

Keeper has been told if a through ball has been made to the attacking player to come out and close striker down.
