SET UP:

Three castles are set up within a larger rectangle area. Players are allocated coloured teams that match the colour of their castle.

1) To warm up, players are allowed to move anywhere in the grid using a variety of different movements. The coach will call out a colour and the players must race to that coloured castle as quickly as possible.

2) Players begin at their coloured castle. Once the game starts, they leave their castle and go to steal 'bricks' belonging to the other teams before taking them back to their own castle. Players may only carry one brick at a time. All players are able to tag players on opposing teams to 'defend' them. If tagged, the player that was tagged must drop his brick immediately and then return to his own castle base before he can continue.

KEY POINTS:

* Using a variety of different movements

* Ability to change speed quickly to get the correct castle

* Assessing space

* Dodging, twisting and turning techniques to avoid being captured

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

* Alter number of bricks

* Alter number of players per team

* If players are defending their castle by standing right in front of it, the coach can place a 'moat' (circle) around the castle meaning that players cannot go inside it, other than to collect a brick.

* If playing the game with a large number of players, a tagged player could become a 'prisoner' and would have to remain inside the castle of the coloured team that tagged him. This player can be freed by a high-five from a team-mate.

SET UP:

Players are given a ball each and complete the following tasks

1) Static ball-striking. Players aim to strike down a brick from their castle from a static position. If successful, the player resets the cone and goes again.

2) Dynamic ball-striking. Players dribble their ball freely in the area and choose a brick from any castle to strike at. If successful, the player resets the cone and then goes to the next one.

KEY POINTS:

* Observation of the target

* Type of strike

* Accuracy of strike

* Use of planted foot

* Point hips towards target

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

* Increase their distance from the target when striking from a static position

* Strike the ball without stopping it first (dynamic)

* Use different parts of the feet

* Use opposite foot

* Time challenge - who can knock down the most cones in 1 minute?

* Players could operate in pairs and compete against one another

* Teams compete against each other. If they knock a brick down, they take it back to their own castle and make their castle bigger! If a team loses all of its cones, they can choose which of the other teams to partner with until there is a winner!

SET UP:

Teams have one defender each who is responsible for protecting the castle. This player can tackle or block the opponent to stop them. If the defender touches the ball, the opponent must return to his own castle before he is allowed to attack again. Attackers attempt to knock a brick down and take it back to their own castle to make it bigger. If a team loses all of its bricks, the players decide which team to assist until one team is the winner.

KEY POINTS:

* Observation of the target

* Type of strike

* Accuracy of strike

* Use of planted foot

* Point hips towards target

* Awareness of defender

* Disguising the strike

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

* Alter the number of attackers vs defenders

* One ball per team - encourages teams to pass the ball more often in order to attack

* Castle defender can be a goalkeeper and is allowed to use his hands
