Stuck in the Mud (15 mins)

Objective: Warm-up and Ball Mastery Exercises

Space: 20x20

Activity: Coach selects 2-3 taggers dependent on number of players and age group. Dribblers try to avoid being tagged by using fakes, feints, changing directions, and change of pace. If dribbler is tagged, they are stuck in the mud. They must take their ball and put it up above their head with legs open. Other dribblers can free them by playing ball between their legs. Rotate tagers every minute or so.

Coaching Points: Use all surfaces, change direction and burst away, encourage players to be creative and use their moves.

Treasure Chest (20 mins)

Objective: To improve dribbling, turning, and running with the ball with light pressure

Space: 20x20

Activity: Players are divided into 4 groups with 3 people in each group with one colored bib for the team. Player with the bib runs into the middle and takes one prize (ball) out of the chest. Coach can designate a turn to take the ball out of the chest. Player must return the prize into their bank by doing a fake or feint. Once all the balls have been deposited, players may steal prizes out of other teams banks.

Coaching Points: Pull back and rake to get the ball out of the chest, dummy step and Platini to get the ball into the bank. All of the above. Head up and proper technique.
