Warm Up (20 mins)

Organization:

1) 40x20 grid set up as shown

2) Two teams of six (one team in pennies)

3) One ball per group (extras can be placed on the outisde)

Instructions:

1) The game is to see how many times a player can knock the ball of fthe cone using various passing techniques

2) If player a knocks the ball of the cone then they replace the ball back on top of the cone while their partner gets ready.

3) If a ball is kicked out of the playing area, a ball can be replaced from the coach's pile

4) Players will play for 3 minutes, add up points and move on to another partner.

Coaching Points:

1) Head up to observe target

2) Ball contact - middle

3) Ankle locked,toe pointed up

4) Follow through towards target with striking foot remaining open throughout

5) Body weight over the ball

6) Weight and accuracy of pass

Progressions:

1) Can only use weaker foot to score.

2) Change the distance.

3) Change the type of pass.

Main Theme (20 mins)

Organization:

1) 40x20 grid set up as shown

2) Two teams of six (one team in pennies)

3) One ball per group (extras can be placed on the outisde)

Instructions:

1) Players pass the ball acorss the field to their partner.

2) Their partner must receive the ball using proper receiving techniques.

3) Each time the partner receives the ball properly and stops the ball on the line, they receive one point.

4) Passing and receiving continues for 3 minutes

5) Winning player moves up to the next partner, while the losing player moves down to the next partner.

Coaching Points:

Receiving - On Ground (Inside)

1)Receive with furthest foot from the ball

2) Slight hop onto standing foot on contact to prepare for next action

3) Receive with the toe pointed up and ankle locked

4) Receiving - On Ground (Outside)

5) Receive with the nearest foot to the ball

6) Toe down ankle locked

Progressions:

1) Can only use weaker foot to score.

2) Change the distance.

3) Change the type of pass.

Conditioned Game (20 mins)

Organization:

1) 40x30 field set up as shown

2) Separate players into two teams

3) 5 balls in the middle of the field and 3 balls with each team

Instructions:

1) Each team passes one of their team balls towards the center cones trying to knock the ball off the cone.

2) If they are successfull, the knocked off ball goes on top of their team color cones.

3) Players are allowed to knock the balls off the center cones and the opposing team's cones.

4) If a ball is knocked off an opposing team's cone, the ball is placed back onto a center cone

5) First team to place a ball on all three of their team color cones wins the game

6) Each team must pass the ball from behind the line of cones, any ball passed in front of the line will not count.

Coaching Points:
