Groups of 5 work on combinations and finish on goal against cones/mannequins.

Windows to finish on goal (30 mins)

Intervals:

3 min game + 1 min rest x 6 games = 24 min

Setup:

50x30 grid on top of 18 yard box

3 teams of 5

5v5 in the middle of grid with extra players on outside ("in window") between two cones

Activity:

Team in possession must connect both wide players before going to goal.

Top of the 18 acts as offside line (defenders can't drop until ball has passed)

Coaching Points:

~ When to possess vs. when to penetrate and how that affects movement off ball

~ Forward runs when player on ball has time and space (supporting runs when they don't)

~ Once attacking, look for overloads (usually out wide)

~ Once in box either drive towards goal or (more likely) drive to endline and near post for cutback cross

Intervals:

3 teams of 5

2 GK

Half field with width of penalty box

Activity:

Neutrals out wide can be used.

Not allow ed to run with the ball.

Can only score off header.

No defenders allowed in 6 yard box (only GK). 1 attacker can enter box, but limited to 1 second.

Coaching Points:

+ Create 2v1's and combine to get behind

+ Movement of players to get into "golden zone" to score

Setup:

teams of 6 in 1-3-3

70x44 field Split into 2 halves with a 5 yard central zone

Activity:

Team in possession tries to score in big goal.

Defending team must leave one player in central zone and play through that player when transitioning to attack opposite goal.

Coaching Points:

~ Forward runs when player on ball has time and space

~By the rules of the game, when the player has the ball in the central zone they will have time and space --> need forward runs to create depth

~Combos to break through the defense --> create overloads somewhere

~ Get as deep as possible when crossing

Activity:

3v3 in the box

Score and stay on.

Coaching Points:

~ Identifying when to take defender on the dribble (1v1)
