Warm Up (WU) (20 mins)

SET UP: Warm Up (WU)

Practice starts with group split into three 3 teams and given a designated zone per team, the middle zone being referred to as the road while the two zones to the sides are the pavements. In each zone there are a number of cones which players must move to once they have completed a pass in order to create a new passing line.

KEY POINTS:

- Seeing the ball at all times, especially when moving.

- Quality of pass.

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

- If practice has started in hands then progress to use feet.

- Challenge players to try and use one touch passing.

- Players must perform a different movement every time they move to a cone.

Technical 1 (T1) (20 mins)

SET UP: Technical 1 (T1)

As the practice progresses the players in the road become blockers who look to block the passes being made from team A to team B. If the blockers win possession then they score a point and pass to the other team who look to resume the practice. The passers score a point every time they complete a pass from the pavement, 'across the road' and to the other pavement.

KEY POINTS:

- Communication; receivers communicating to receive ball, blockers communicating to block the passing line.

- Decision making; when to transfer

- Type of pass

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

- Players must perform a number of passes beore transferrring the ball.

- Players can not pass over the blockers in the road.

- Players must pass to the closest player on the opposite pavement.

- Players must pass to the furthest player on the opposite pavement.

-Players must communicate who they are passing to before they do so.

Technical 2 (T2) (20 mins)

SET UP: Technical 2 (T2)

In the techical 2 practice one blocker is allowed to leave the road and try and tackle the players on the pavement, if they do so they score a point and must transfer the ball themselves. Players on the pavement must evade the pressure in order to transfer the ball.

KEY POINTS:

- Awareness; space and defender.

- Decision making; when to transfer.

- Quality of passing; type, weight.

- Prioritsing passing, when to pass forward, when to pass sideways/back.

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

- Progress to allow 2-3 blockers onto the pavement.

- Players can only transfer in wide areas.

- Players can only transfer through the middle.

- Must pass to break line between defenders.

Conditioned Game (CG) (20 mins)

SET UP: Conditioned Game (CG)

Players play 5 v 5 with zones still in place. In order to score a goal teams must first pass through the thirds (1-2-3) and then finish in the goal.

KEY POINTS:

- Quality of passing.

- Type of pass.

- Weight of pass.

- Communication; giving information.

- Balance; Adjusting body to complete pass with new surface.

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

- Every player must touch the ball before you score.

- Progress to add that players can not play aerially through the thirds.

- Change the order of the thirds the players must play through (3-1-2)

- Once you have received and passed in a third you must find a new one.
