  PLEASE NOTE: THE UNIVERSAL USE OF DOTTED LINES IS FOR PLAYERMOVEMENT. THIS SOFTWARE USES DOTTED LINES FOR PASSING INSTEAD. THESE ARE PLAYERMOVEMENT LINES NOT PASSING LINES!!

1. PRIMARY FOCUS: Creativity in attacking 1/3rd of the field.

* Looking to create attacks with 4 players upfront (#8, #9, #10 and #7 or #11)

* Interchange of play and positions between the #8, #9 & #10 to give us some width and depth to our attacking play. Making diagonal runs. One dropping off and one playing higher at times. Willing to switch sides

* When attacking in the final 1/3 , whichever wing player presses forward (#7 or #11), the opposite side player needs to tuck in more narrow and deeper to the midfield area

2. NARROW/WIDE TRANSITIONAL PLAY

In defensive moments looking to be very compact and tight in the middle (esp. our #7 & #11).

It's essential that our wide midfielders help out defensively!!!!!

3. USING A 1-4-4-2 FORMATION:

This is a standard formation for us and gives us a little more ability in the attacking 1/3rd of the field with 2 players up front.

* Diamond midfield with our #6 as the shield in front of the back 4.

* Our #8 playing the attacking midfield role and the #9 & #10 playing up front as strikers.

* This formation is a little more aggressive and attack minded. This shows us in our offensive shape (see other tab for our defensive shape). It's essential that we revert to our defensive shape when defending!

Tactical Defensive Shape

In our defensive shape we still retain the 1-4-4-2 formation but now there is no diamond midfield. We play a flat back four and a flat midfield 4

* we take up what is considered two banks of 4. In other words, 2 defensive lines of 4 players.

* All the midfielders now acting as a shield for the defensive back line

* 2 attackers must apply pressure on the ball in the higher midfield areas of the field. #9 and #10 can stagger a little if attacking pressure is hot and we need additional support for the 4 midfielders.
