Set Up (10 mins)

Organisation:

60x40 Yard Area

Three Equal Zones

Two Teams

Red Team to be Coached

Can move anywhere up and down the left channel but CAN'T move infield.

Can move anywhere up and down the left channel but CAN'T move infield.

Aim:

Red team try to score by working the ball up the pitch through the zones

Blue team try to win the ball back and then they have 10 seconds to get a shot away

.

Rules:

All Players to remain in their zones

Ball has to be played through, not over, the midfield zone

Play starts from Red Team GK whenever ball goes dead

Channel Players are on 3 Touch Maximum - try to get the ball back in quickly - Need Movement from Inside Players

How Can The Midfield Create Space (30 mins)

Coaching Points:

1 - Defenders need to split wide and offer for the ball when Red GK is in possession. Looking to keep possession using GK to switch play if neccessary, before finding a good quality pass into a midfield player

2 - Midfielders need to make the area as big as possible by using the full width and depth, causing the Blue team a problem

3 - Midfielders need to create space for themselves or teammates by using:

a. Show to Go

b. Go to Show

c. Switch

Progressional Coaching Points:

4 - Can Defenders accompany their pass with an Instruction?

a. Turn

b. Man On

c. Play it Back

5 - Can Midfield players check their shoulder before receiving to be aware:

a. If they are in space or are marked

b. Where their teammates are

6 - If Midfield Players are in space and can turn, can they receive on their back foot and play forward and be positive
