Screen 1

Set Up: 8x8 yard grid

Description: 4 blue players in possesion of the ball, 1 yellow defender. Defender trys to win the ball from the attackers, for a time limit. Attackers keep the ball making the defender commit before they make decision to pass the ball. Rotate the defender.

Coaching points:

1. make defender commit

2. Decision when to dribble (keep the ball) or pass.

3. Open body to field when recieving the ball.

4. Movement to create angle to recieve ball

5. communication

Progression:

Vary the size of grid to ability.

Add defender to add pressure

Basic group suggestion.

Set Up: 25x15 y grid

Description: two target players on end line, 1v1+3 neutral targets outside and 1 neutral inside. can start 2v1 in the middle then go to 3v2 to add pressure. 1st just look to switch the attack from one side to the others.

Coaching Points:

Progression: Then go to players in the inside have to link up before you switch it. Get a point if you can got through both neutrals. Also can progress to players on the wing and 3v3 on inside.

Expanded Small Activity (20 mins)

Set Up:Two team, Two neutrals, Grid 20 x 25

Description: 2v2+2 outside neutrals. Play starts at one teams feet, If that team scores they stay on, the team that gets scored on, leaves the field. 2 new players come on with the ball from the side that gets scored on. Players are thus playing from the back, building to score. If the defending team wins the ball they now can counter to opposite goal. If ball leaves the playing area, both teams go off 2 new teams come on, for repetition.

Screen 5

Set Up: 30x20y 1 big goal, with 2 smaller counter goals, 2 teams 1 team in 2 lines by the post of big goal. 1 team a mid line.

Description: Starting in a 4v2. Adding a midfield player to learn to play from defender to midfield. Ball gets played into the GK and two blue defenders run in from the top to pressure the ball. The purple team trys to score in one of the 2 small goals. Once the ball goes out of bounds 3 new purple and 2 new blue come in and ball is played to gk again, depending on numbers. You can have players builing from the back, have a starting position.
