Warm--Up (20 mins)

Organization

1 ball/player. Execute core fast footwork moves at each cone. Can challenge players with different sizes of balls ie tennis ball, size 1 skills ball, size 3 futsal

Coaching Points:

1) Ball under close control - 1 step away

2) Quick feet - on toes

3) Positive touches -with intent

4) Head up to see options

SAQ (10 mins)

Organization:

3 lines of players. Work on Speed, Agility and Quickness.

a) Begin by having players sprint to each cone and stop quickly

b) Progress to breaking right or left at 2nd and 3rd cone. After breaking right or left players will backpedle horizontal and then sprint forward to next cone

c) Add ball

Coaching Points:

1)Importance of 1st step – use back leg as spring

2)Pump Arms for power

3)Keep head steady

4)On toes - stay off heals

Progression:

Make it competetive with races

Technique (20 mins)

Organization:

Players work in groups of six. Player 1 at end plays into an attacking player in centre who attempts to turn and take on the defender 1v1. The attacking player then attempts to play pass to player at opposite end. The attacking player in middle will continue to transfer the ball from end to end.

If defender in middle wins ball they become the attacking player. Players rotate through positions.

Coaching Points:

1)Quality and types of passing – pace/timing/accuracy

2)Creativity in 1v1 situations

3) Intelligent movement checking off defenders

4)Quality of 1st touch

5)Awareness of space – glance over shoulder when receive

6)Work at high tempo

7) Communication

Progressions:

1)Player at end who plays into middle, supports to create a 2v1.

2) A second defender is added to create 2v2's (passing player at end supports )

SSG (20 mins)

Organization:

SSG - 5v5 in 3 zones. Team in possession can move anywhere in all 3 zones. Defending team is restricted and must stay in their starting zones. Introduce over-lapping and 3rd man attacking options to players. Attacking team can only score a goal from a cross delivered from a wide position. Progress to goal can only be scored from 1st time finish.

Coaching Points:

1) Movement, speed, disguise of runs

2) Quick passing combinatons

3) Timing of runs to create over-laps and 3rd man runs (lose markers)

4) Types of crosses/finishing

Game (20 mins)

Let them play! For quick transition, set the condition that once score must then attack the opposite goal
