Functional practise - Passing & recieving (20 mins)

 

Functional practise - Passing & recieving

 

Description: An extended warm up, with 4 main progressions:

 

1) Squares 1 and 4 start off with the ball on the floor, one touch passing constantly moving & taking up eachothers space. Squares 3 and 4 the ball is in the air, a player throws UNDERARM to a teammate who vollys the ball back to a teammate thats not the server. When the coach calls switch squares 1 and 2 have the ball in the air & squares 3 and 4 have it on the ground. Then a structured routine.

 

2) All squares have the ball on the floor, When you pass a ball in a square you need to move clockwise to the next square and keep going, Then when the coach says switch, we move anti clockwise. After 4/5 minutes when you play a pass in any square, you can move to whichever square you like

 

3) Blue with blue - red with red. No square restrictions, players can roam freely within the square, however, 4 balls are still in play, reds can only pass to reds and blues can only play to blues, 2 balls per team

 

4) Possession - Handball, ball is in the air looking to pass and move, you cant be tackled only intercepted, the objective is to make as many passes as possible - Dont lose

 

Players,key points:

1) Tempo - Keep playing at one touch and a fast two

2) Concentration - Dont make the same mistake twice

3) Movement - Constantly checking to create better anfles

4) Quality of pass - Weight, Timing , Accuracy, Distance

5) Decision making - Especcially in progression 2: Play the deep pass if e can to then bounce, combine then switch to do the same

Attacking - Combination play (20 mins)

 

Attacking - Combination play for game related situations

 

Description: Similar to last weeks session. Same setup except we will use a shadow defender marking striker. This week focus in bringing what we learned last week but more emphasis on finishing at the end of the move. We will also work on keeping the ball for a certain timeframe before killer pass can be made so we can practice recycling runs.

 

Players, key points:

 

1) Has to be done at match pace .

 

2) Target will be 10 goals from 15 balls.

 

3) Number six will start every move.

 

4) We will work through various combos to unlock opposition (ie-striker and #10 rotations, wingers varying run types) .

Description: A 5v5 in the middle with neutral (magic men) on either side of the pitch. A few conditions & scoring rules apply. This exercise is designed to achieve:

1) Fluid rotations

2) Fast combinations

3) A forward mentality with possession

4) Switching play to create better attacking chanells

 

Players, key points:

 

1) Movement - Constant 3 yard checks, be able to find a yard of space

2) In to come out - Our attacking mentality, combine and switch

3) Quality of pass - Weight, Timing , Distance and Accuracy

4) Recycling - Change direction and play

9 v 9 - The Pressing Game (25 mins)

 

9 v 9 Game

 

Working on our pressing game off the ball. Also on the ball working on playing out from the back and our combos from the team attacking the big goal.

 

Rules

 

Blue team score by scoring in the big goal. Red team score by getting a pass through the 4 gates setup by poles at key areas where the Blues should be pressing.
