SAQ

Organization:

1. 20 x 25.

2. Group split into two teams.

Instructions:

1. Group A are attackers and Group B are defenders.

2. Attacker cue the start by taking a step forward and run to the cone and then have to run to either cone two yards or more ahead of the defender to win the point.

3. The Defender must try and mirror the attacker and stay within a yard when crossing the cone to win the point.

Coaching Points:

1. Attack at speed.

2. Observe position of defender.

3. Defender behind = Run forward and accelerate.

4. Defender along the side = Fake to turn.

5. Defender in front = Turn.

Progressions:

1. Each player has a ball. - Players waiting for their go are performing different ball mastery touches (e.g. toe taps).

Technical Unopposed

Organization:

1. 10 x 15 Area Size (x3).

2. 3 groups of 4 players.

3. 1 ball each player.

Instructions:

1. Players dribble to middle cone and perform a Maradonna and then head to the end cone.

2. At the end cones, the player turns and then to the opposite middle cone to perform the move again but on the opposite feet.

Coaching Points:

1. Dribble the ball like Messi

2. Head up as dribbling.

3. Timing of move.

4. Change of speed out of move.(Bigger final touch).

Technical Unopposed

Organization:

1. 10 x 15 Area size (3 groups running at the same time).

2. 4 Players in each group.

Instructions:

1. Player A passes and moves to Player B.

2. Player B receives on the back foot and dribble down the line and executes a Stop Start (Pull Push), dribble to the end line and dribble back to the passing line.

Coaching Points:

1. 1st touch out of feet into space.

2. Pull Push Technique - 1st touch with the sole of the foot (small pull of the ball)/ 2nd touch with the inside of the same foot (push ball slightly bigger).

3. Final touch of Stop Start out of feet to accelerate away.

4. Head up immediately after Stop Start.

5. Use hips to 'fake' the turn.

Progressions:

1. Player A passes and presses Player B until Player B executes the Stop Start and Player A then turns back to receive the ball from Player C and begin the process again.

Organization:

1. 20 x 25

2. 2 Teams.

Instructions:

1. Player A passes and overlaps Player B.

2. Player B needs to dribble over the red cones before scoring in either goal.

3. Player A can tackle Player B soon as he takes his 1st touch.

4. If Plyaer A wins the ball he must pass the ball into the counter goal.

Coaching Points:

1. Dribble with furthest foot away from defender.

2. 1st touch to attack space ahead to create space behind and in front.

3. Decision making at red cones (depending on defenders position) Cut across defender/Turn/ Stop Start.

4. Half a yard or striaght after move take shot at goal.

Progressions:

1. Switch sides to allow players dribble with other foot.

2. Competition between teams.

Conditioned Game I

Organization:

30x50 area set up as shown

Half way line marked out with cones

10 players (5 attackers & 5 defenders)

1 ball (additional on outside)

Instructions:

- Teams play standard 5v5 small sided game. Play restarts with kick ins. No offsides.

- Team in possession only only get out of of defensive half by dribbling ball over half way line

- Teams aim to score either by shooting into mini goals or by dribbling between center gate (tall cones)

Coaching Points:

- Controlled approach

- Body shape - low centre of gravity

- Awareness of space, surroundings & approaching players position

- Timing & execution of dribble. Whens the best time to cross the half?

- Timing & execution of skill move

- Next action: Accelerate away from defender

- Improvisation & creativity

Progressions:

1. Attacking team has time limit to score when they enter attacking half

2. When teams score at one end, they turn & attack opposite end
