Duration of session: 1 hour

Number of players: 10

Equipment: balls, 2 sets of pinnies, 2 mini goals, cones, whiteboard and pen

Facility: Tinker Indoor Field, one small field

Ball Mastery and Turns (20 mins)

Set up:

-place cones 10 yards apart.

-divide into groups of 2 (one group behind each cone)

Activity:

-players perform different movements in and out of cones as instructed by the coach (inside, ousides both feet, toe taps, soccer boxes, juggles, drags)

Attacking moves

Once player reaches the defender the following attacking moves will be recapped:

1. Double Scissors

2. wave

3. Step-over

4. Stop and go

5. Ronaldo chop

6. Matthews

Dosage:

Intensity: Moderate to high

Reps: 3 per exercise

Rest: 15-30 seconds between each exercise

Coaching Points:

-close control

-use all surfaces of the foot

-keep your head up and use periheral vision

-change of direction and acceleration.

1 v 1 with four goals (15 mins)

Set up:

-Divide group into two teams.

-As shown in the diagram

Activity:

- 1 v 1

- Coach feeds the ball into the field.

-Player then look to attack one of the 4 goals, using attacking moves beat and accelerate away from the defender.

-If players score in the mini goal closest to the coach players will score 2 points, rest of goals are 1 point.

Progression

-If a player performs a successful attacking move they will be given a bonus point

Dosage:

Intensity: High

Duration: 15-45 seconds per rep

Reps: 6-10

Sets: 2

Rest: 15-45 seconds between rep. 1 minute between set.

Coaching Points:

-close control

-use your body to protect the ball and turn the defender

-change direction

-dribble towards defender at speed

-be creative

-identify the space and accelerate into it

4 v 4 - four squares (20 mins)

Set up:

- 30 x 20 yards

- 2 mini goals

- 4 v 4

Activity:

-4 v 4

- Field divided in to 4 zones as shown with 1 v 1 in each zone. Players must stay in their zone.

- players to rotate positions after every rep

Dosage:

Intensity: High

Duration per game: 3 minutes

Reps: 4

Rest: 1 minute between games

Coaching Points:

- encourage 1 v 1 dribbling and attacking moves

-Can players beat their opponent 1 v 1 then look to make the pass to the next zone or score.

- less coaching, let them play.
