Recap Footskills & Moves (20 mins)

INTENSITY: Moderate - high ACTIVITY TIME: 2 mins REST: 30 secs INTERVALS: 8

Activity:

1. Footskills

- Players perform different movements in and out of cones as instructed by the coach (inside, ousides both feet, toe taps, soccer boxes, juggles, drags)

2 Recap all Attacking moves

Once player reaches the defender the following attacking moves will be recapped. Player then performs a quick turn at endline and accelerates back to start:

1. Double Scissors

2. wave

3. Step-over

4. Stop and go

5. Ronaldo chop

6. Matthews

(use both feet)

Coaching Points:

1) Close control

2) Use all surfaces of the foot

3) Keep your head up and use periheral vision

4) Change of direction and acceleration.

1 v 1 with four goals (20 mins)

INTENSITY: Moderate - high ACTIVITY TIME: 15-30 secs REST: 30 secs INTERVALS: 20-25

Activity:

- 1 v 1

- Coach feeds the ball into the field.

- Player then look to attack one of the (4) goals, using attacking moves beat and accelerate away from the defender.

Scoring:

- If players score in the mini goal closest to the coach players will score 2 points, rest of goals are 1 point.

Progression:

-If a player performs a successful attacking move they will be given a bonus point

Coaching Points:

1) Close control

2) Use your body to protect the ball and turn the defender

3) Change direction

4) Dribble towards defender at speed

5) Be creative

6) Identify the space and accelerate into it

4 v 4 - four squares (35 mins)

4 v 4 - INTENSITY: high ACTIVITY TIME: 2 mins REST: 2 mins INTERVALS: 8

5 v 5 + GKs - INTENSITY: Moderate ACTIVITY TIME: 7 mins REST: 1 min INTERVALS: 2

Activity:

- 4 v 4

- 3 teams (2 playing, 1 resting and rotate)

- Field divided in to 4 zones as shown with 1 v 1 in each zone. Players must stay in their zone.

- Players to rotate positions after every interval

Progression:

- Remove zone restrictions and add additional players in to play 5 v 5 plus GKs

Coaching Points:

1) Reinforce all previous coaching points

2) Can players beat their opponent 1 v 1 then look to make the pass to the next zone or score.

3) Less coaching, let them play.
