Warm up Activity - Passing (25 mins)

Description

This passing drill starts to focus on getting players in positions to

play forward and looking at their transition. This will also add

decision making under pressure. The game is four teams in the

squares one team to defend. Defending team has one player roll

the ball into three players, they keep the ball for three passes and

then look to transfer the ball to another square. As this happens a

different defender goes in to win the ball back. If the defending

team win the ball back and can pass to their team mates then they

are exempt for 2 goes at defending. Team that loses the ball

become defenders TRANSITION

Technical

Players need to get into positons to receive the ball and be able to

play forward quickly. The players aso need to move across

squares quickly so there is always support for the group with the

ball on the left and the right sides.

Zonal Corners (30 mins)

Zonal Marking from corners:

Keeper should be active to ensure he doesnot have his view obstructed by attackers and is physically dominate in his 6-yard box.

Defenders on the post should be inside the post and not with hands leaning on them. Ready to defend

3 strong headers of the ball should be placed along the 6-yard line, looking to attack everything in front of them so they get a running jump over attackers

One defender again a good header sweeping in round behind for over hit corners.

One defender on point of the 6-yard box for underhit corners

One defender on penalty spot

One defender on edge of teh box for 2nd phase

If the ball gets played into the shaded zone back post player is to attack this zone, and the edge of the box player also. the rest stay in their areas

The front player should be on angles, and adjust with the ball flight EG. If ball goes over to the back post then they should swap and create angles there.

ALL PLAYERS MUST ATTACK THE ZONE FROM BACK TO FRONT.... NO STANDING JUMPS.

2ND PHASE MUST STAY IN THAT ZONE BUT CREEP FORWARD AS A UNIT- DO NOT BECOME DISORGANISED OR OBSECURED BY ATTACKERS.

SHORT CORNERS - CLOSEST PLAYER GOES TO APPLY PRESSURE PENALTY SPOT BECOMES FRONT, AND EDGE OF THE BOX DOES PENALTY SPOT
