In pairs, ball between two

One player bibbed up

Working at 30 second intervals

Step 2 Dynamic Stretching (10 mins)

Split the players into two groups, four cones, two poles as a gate, players working from both sides at same time.

- knees up

- heels up

- inside step

- twisting hip

- groin in an out

- kicks straight out front

- sideways forward/backwards

- squats foward

- lunges

Pick up tempo

Step 3 Rondos (10 mins)

7v2

Set up two boxes of 12x12 next to one another and ensure there is a supply of balls beside each box.

Make sure there are two bibs in each box.

Two players start in middle, no need to wear bib, simply hold it.

Players around the box start to move the ball, if a player intercepts in the centre, switch over bib.

Trying and max out at two touches, try and even speed up to one touch if standard lifts. Working for 3mins max.

Looking for ball to be moved quickly in this exercise and good communication between players on outside.

Conditions attached:

- all in

- take two touches

- one touch

Then move into a fun game situation. Two players from Box A called into Box B to win ball back, so now becomes a 9v2.. team who retains the ball for most touches gets a point.

Fun punishment.

Set Up:

In groups of three, two at one end. Ball at either side.

Some speed and agility both with or without the football.

1. Sprint, lateral high knees - witrhout ball, across and check back

3. Sprint, lateral high knees + header

3. Sprint, lateral high knees + volley

4. Sprint, lateral high knees + half volley

5. Sprint, slalom between cones + header

6. Sprint, slalom between cones + half volley

7. Sprint, slalom between cones + volle

Step 5 Pass & Move (15 mins)

Set Up:

8/10 players per set up

Two stations at each end 40 yards apart

Two manequins in the centre

Supply of balls at each end

Rotation:

Ball starts with A and is passed to B.

B (defender) then plays ball into C (striker) in centre diagonally.

Both A and B start to make the run forward.

C lays off first time to D (midfielder) who lays ball off into either channel.

A or B pick up the ball and play a straight pass into E.

Repeat.

Coaching Points:

Tempo of pass, communication between players, check to receive pass, supporting runs

Striker Shooting Drill (10 mins)

Set Up:

Three stations - A - feeder, B man on marker, C striker.

Supply of balls at A, gate at C

Players: Connor, Lewis N, Jamie, Neil, Rhys, Mark

Rotation:

A plays a ball in to B, who opens his body up and moves off marker.

B then plays a ball into C who takes one touch through the gate and strikes ball into corners between post and pole.

Looking for standing foot to be firm on ground and directed where shot going.

Variance 1

A plays ball into B who pulls wide area.

B plays ball into C who holds up, lays off and A has made the run for shot, who again takes one touch only and shoots between pole and post.

Variance 2

A plays ball into B who pulls into wide area.

B plays ball into C, C plays into A.

A then lays in B from wide area who takes one touch and shoots across goal into far corner, again between pole and post.

Step 6 Wave Shooting (5 mins)

Wave Shooting

Set Up:

Players split evenly over the three stations.

Supply of balls at each station also.

Goalkeepers rotate after each wave.

Rotation:

Exercise starts at station A, player A dribbles around the three poles, takes one touch out of feet and shoots.

Player A then takes a pass from player B and plays a wall pass back aross 18 yard box and Player A shoots.

Player A cotinues across 18 yard box and Player C plays a pass in and Player A plays into channel for Player C to cross.

Player B has made a run to back post. Player A checks run and holds back for a possible cut back.

Rotate players at each station after 5 mins.
