passing combo- short-short-long (15 mins)

Organization:

-Players in groups of 4.

-Player A and D are set 20 yards apart, with Player B and C staggered 5 and 7 yards away from player A respectfully.

-Player B and C are working @ approx 60% and Players A and D are undergoing active rest during this activity as target players.

The passing sequence of passes is as follows:

-PLayer A passes to B

-B passes to A

-A passes to C

-C passes to A

-A passes long along the ground to D.

-Player B and C travel to support the long ball that has been played and the sequence repeats on the opposite side. Which ever player in the interior who makes the final pass to traget player will be the first to receive from the target player on the opposite side.(In this case Player C passed last to A so he will be the first to receive the pass from D)

-Interior player will work for 2.5 minutes and then will switch to become target players.

-Each player will perform 3 sets @ 2.5 min.

-Total = 15 minutes

Coaching Points:

-Once the players understand the sequence, coach during the flow or at the end of the 2.5 minute work period

-opposite movement to ball (checking)

short-short with wall pass (10 mins)

Same as previous except after making the initial short passes player B and C combine for a wall pass prior to passing to D.

 The sequence of passes is as follows:

-PLayer A passes to B

-B passes to A

-A passes to C

-C passes to A

-A passes short Player B who has moved to a different angle

-Player B and C perform a WALL PASS with player B passing to Player D.

-The sequence repeats on the opposite side with Player C becoming the first player to receive from Player D.

-Interior player will work for 2.5 minutes and then will switch to become target players and will perform active rest.

-Each player will perform 2 sets @ 2.5 min of this passing combination.

-Total = 10 minutes

Coaching Points:

-same as above

-Player receiving when executing the wall pass should receive on backfoot and check shoulder...

3 v 3 to targets (20 mins)

Organization:

-The activity takes place in a 20 x 20 area.

-Teams will play 3 v 3 to corner targets(or evenly #'d teams). The objective is for the players to maintain possession and to pass to one of their targets for 1 point. If the target receives the ball he dribbles into the grid(the player who passed the ball exits) and the team attacks in the opposite direction.

-If the ball goes out of bounds the coach will always re-start the play by serving the ball to the team that merits possession.

possible Progressions:

-touch limits.. 3 touches, 2 touches

-players must make a predetermined quantity of passes before they can pass to target player.

-support

-movement/mobility

-penetration

-possession, patience, penetration

-re-loading- play the ball back if you can not play alongside(laterally at angle) or forward
