Agility warm-up (20 mins)

Session Objective: Agility warm-up

Organisation:

Players themselves asked to set up 10 by 10 area using cones with one in middle (shown example on white board ).5 players one on each cone.

Players 1 to 4 try to exchange places with each other and 5 has to try and move to empty cone.Players can edge away from cone to tease middle player to make move.If 5 gets to cone player not on cone moves to centre and so on

Key Factors:

Speed and agility to move to vacant cone.

Body position :by opening self out player in middle can be aware of three cones in vision and therefore has more chance.

1-2 combination drill (20 mins)

Session Objective: To develop combination play,especially 1/2

Organisation:

Drill A .

Groups set out as in A.Player 1 plays to 2 who plays 1-2 with 3 and then 2 plays to 4 and takes place.5 has taken place of 2.Then repeat in reverse back to start.

Please note:Player 1 stays where he is when game starts but as ball comes back to him next time, he plays to one of the centre players and follows his pass.

Centre players subsequently have to determine between themselves who is to receive ball to play 1-2 so they all have a go.

Drill B. As above but introduction of static defenders A and B.Extra Players at 1 and 4 who rotate.1 and 4 still follow pass but 3 and 5 just rotate and stay in same position.Rotate all players after a while so all experience each area.

Timing of pass

Movement after passing

Combination SSG (30 mins)

Objective: to encourage combination play,especially 1-2

Practice organisation

Pitch 60 by 40.

2 appropriate sized goals.Balls by side of goals.

Game starts by goalkeeper feeding .

The team in possession must use a combination move to progress into next area.Can play off players in own area or receive back off player in next area.Once combined,player moves into next area until goal scored or possession lost.

Key factors:

Create space to receive

Open body shape to receive and pass/move forward

When to dribble,when to combine/pass/keep

Decision and attitude to combine

Quality of finish

Recovery

Combination finish SSG (20 mins)

Objective: to develop combination play

Practice organisation

Pitch 60 by 40.

2 appropriate sized goals.Balls by side of goals.

Game starts by goalkeeper feeding .

Condition.Players can go anywhere and can only score following 1-2 interchange in attacking areas (A and B)
