Warm Up (10 mins)

Organization:

1.20 x 20 yard area set up as shown

2.12 players (8 attackers, 4 defenders)

3.1 ball per attacking player

4 players will paired up and play against each other (def. and attacker)

Instructions:

1.Attackers run with a ball around trying to stay away from the defenders.

2.The defenders try to chase the attackers, defenders run with a ball try to tag attackers.

3.If a player is tagged they switch rolls.

Coaching Points:

1.Close control

2.Head up

3.Changes is direction

4. move the ball inside using the insid of the foot.

5. move the foot aroud the front of the ball finishing on the outsideof the ball

Progression:

1.Attackers without a ball, defenders chase them when command of coach "outside" Attackers stop inmediately and defenders must try to go around three different attackers using just the outside of the foot. And then when coach command "scissors" players must execute a scissor to three different players.

Main session 1 (20 mins)

Organization:

1.30 x 30 yard area set up as shown

2.12 players split into four groups

3.Multiple balls with the coach

4.Four 5 yard score gates set up as shown

Instructions:

1.Players are divided into four teams and given a team name.

2.Each player is given a number 1, 2, 3 or 4

3.The coach plays a ball into the area and calls out a number

4.The player with the corresponding number enters the game

5.The aim is to dribble the ball through one of the oppositions scoring gates

6.When a player successfully dribbles through a scoring gate they take that ball back to their team and put it in the ‘scoring bank’.

7.When the coach runs out of balls the team with the most balls banked is the winner.

Coaching Points:

1.Close control

2.Use of different surfaces to dribble

3.Head up and observe the space

4.Attack defenders front foot

5.Execution of moves

6.Big touch past defender

7.Accelerate away

Progression:

1.P- By dribbling through an oppositions gate successfully you can also take one of their ‘banked’ balls back to your team

2.R – Increase the size of the scoring gates

3.R – The coach can passes in two balls instead of one

Main session 2 (25 mins)

Organization:

1.30 x 30 yard area set up as shown

2.12 players split into four teams

3.Multiple balls with the coach

Instructions:

1.Players are divided into four teams and given a team name

2.Each player is given a number 1, 2 or 3

3.Each team has 3 lives

4.The coach plays a ball into the area and calls out a number

5.The player with the corresponding number enter the game

6.Objective is to score in one of the other three teams goal

7.When a goal is scored that team loses a life

8.When all lives are lost that team must turn their goal over – however they are not out of the game, they just cannot win the world cup

9.When a goal is scored or the ball leaves the area the game is over and the next round restarted by the coach passing in another ball and calling the next number

10.Last team remaining is the winner of the world cup

Coaching Points:

1.Close control

2.Use of different surfaces to dribble

3.Head up and observe the space

4.Attack defenders front foot

5.Execution of moves

6.Accelerate away

Progression:

1.P- Coach can call multiple numbers at the same time

2.P – Bonus life ball – if scored the conceding team loses a life and the scoring team gains a life

3.R – More than one ball can be played in at the same time

Organization:

2 fields

area size 20x30

3 vs 3

Instructions:

players play 3 vs 3 over 2 fields

Coaching Points:

1. keep ball close when dribbling

2. head up to improve awareness
