Warm-Up (15 mins)

Description:

Blue players are serving the ball for 90 seconds. As each red player receives/passes the ball, they move down the line. The last red player sprints around to the beginning to continue working.

Activity 1 (15 mins)

Organization:

Set up a 20x20 area and split the players into 2 teams.

Instructions:

Split the players into 2 teams that start behind there cone on the edge of the area. As soon as the coach touches the ball the first player from each line come out and play 1v1 getting the ball back to the coach. As soon as the coach recieves the ball the next 2 players come out.

Progressions:

1- Play 2v2

Coaching Points:

Create passing lanes by moving the ball.

Activity 2 (30 mins)

Organization:

Set up a 35x35 area and split the players into 2 teams. The teams then need to split themselves into groups of 3. Each group of 3 needs a ball. There needs to be 2 goals at each end.

Instructions:

White set off and pass the ball forwards until you are in the shooting zone. After you pass the ball you follow your passing creating an overlapping run (curve your run around the outside of the recieving player). After you have scored blue go in the opposite direction.

Progressions:

1- Both white and blue go at the same time.

2- White go against 1 blue defender, then swap round. (3v1)

3- White go against 1 blue defender and a blue recovering defender. (3v2)

4- Play 3v3 with 1 ball. Encourage keeping possession and movement off the ball to create passing lanes.

Coaching Points:

Positive first touch.

Get your head up (look for teammates, opposition and space).

Game (15 mins)

Description:

7v7 with no restrictions - focusing on spreading out and moving the ball around.

formation: 2-4-1 (white), 2-3-2 (blue)

3 rounds of 5 minute games.

Coaching Points:

Let the kids play with very little interruption throughout the game. After each round bring the kids in and talk about the game.

How was their movement?

Did they keep posession?

Did we attack as a team? Did we defend as a team?
