Part 1

The course is made up of six pairs of parallel cones, approximately 6 yards apart. Two players start at

the same time from the first pair of cones, jog along the inside of the cones and do the various exercises on the way. After the last cone, they run back along the outside. On the way back, speed

can be increased progressively as players warm up.

1. Jog through 5 times

2. Hip out (groin movement) - 2 sets

3. Hip in (groin movement) - 2 sets

4. Circle partner - 2 sets

5. Jumping with shoulder contact - 2 sets

6. Quick forward and backwards sprints - 2 sets

Screen 2 (10 mins)

Set Up:

10 or 11 v 5. The attacking team has to out number defending team 2 to 1. Each attacker begins with a ball.

Grid is anywhere from 25-30 X 15-20.

How It Works:

Designated defenders have 1.5 minutes to clear all the balls out of the grid. Once an attacker loses the ball then the attacker who lost their ball can go and support any teammate with the ball. At that point attackers can pass the ball as much as they want to keep possession.

There is no restriction on touches.

After each round a new set of defenders goes in. The defending team who gets the least amount of balls does push ups. If a defending team clears all the balls before the time is up then the coach records the time as the score (i.e. whichever team has the highest time loses).

Progression:

Players have to call out cone colour coaching is holding before receiving from an attacker. If the cone isn't called out then that ball is out of play.

Keys:

1. Angle of Support

2. First touch away from pressure

3. Open up to receive

4. Quality of pass.

5. Choice of pass/use fakes

6. Movement (before/after pass)

7. Spacial Awareness

Set Up:

Grid is 20 x 20. Anywhere from 6-11 players can be used in 1 grid. If you have 16 players then 2 groups set up. If more than 12 players then need to 2 grids set up.

2 players are designated (with bibs) as a PASSIVE DEFENDER.

How It Works:

Players are numbered for sequential passing, performing various patterns.

It is important that the receiving between the defenders times their run so that they aren't too early nor too late.

Rotate defenders after each sequence. Defenders should keep 5 yards in bewteen them at all times.

Sequence 1:

1 passes to 2 between defenders, player turns with ball and dribbles away. Then 2 plays 3 and so on.

Sequence 2:

1 passes to 2 between defenders, 2 plays back to 1 who makes a forward run, then 1 plays 3 ahead. 3 passes to 4, back to 3 then to 5 and so on.

Sequence 3:

1 passes to 2, who passes back to 1 (one is in same spot), 1 plays to 3 on sides side of defender, and 3 plays 4 like a throughball.

Keys:

1. Angle of Support

2. First touch away from pressure

3. Open up to receive

4. Quality of pass.

5. Choice of pass/use fakes

6. Movement (before/after pass)

7. Spacial Awareness
