Technical (15 mins)

On Arrivial: (Prior to start of practice)

Organization:

As shown in diagram

Dynamic Warm-up:

1. Jog to cone and back twice

2. Open the gate to the cone, close the gate on our way back

3. Half kicks (Cross the body; Knee to elbow) to cone, Light extension - Full kicks on our way back.

4. High knees to cone, butt kicks on our way back.

5. Side shuffle facing one direction to cone - switch direction half way in between. Two alternating side skips on our way back.

6. Small skips down, big skips on our way back.

7. Move on to SAQ with cones.

1. Be on toes

2. Listen for coaches signal

3. Reaction time

4. Speed of movement

Technical Warm-up: Yael Averbuch "Soccer Wall Series"

Part I

1. Inside pass (leave foot in air after contact) Receive + Pass; 1 min x each foot

2. Receive inside (leave foot in air after receiving) Pass back with Laces - same foot, drop foot in between reps; 1 min x each foot

3. Outside touch when receiving (leave foot in air after receiving) Pass with inside surface; 1 min x each foot

4. Receiving drag across with inside surface (leave foot in air after receiving) Pass with outside surface; 1 min x each foot

Challenge - Wrap around the back of your planted foot, inside pass. Adjust the angle of your hips. 1 min

Technical

Organization:

Groups of 3-4

Instructions:

Players dribble to the middle cone on the side of their choosing and perform the "Xavi" Turn, they repeat this one more time on the opposite side

Coaching Points:

1. Drive at speed towards the space

2. Body shape when turning (lower center of gravity)

5. 1st outside touch must be close to protect the ball and space

4. final touch must be out of feet and breaking the line to get into the space

5. Position of the plant foot

Semi Opposed

Organization: 2 lanes facing each other in the grid, balls with the attacking line

Instructions:

Attacking player and defending player are going to be working in tandem, with the defending player providing passive pressure to simulate the pressure from the defender. Attacking player chooses which side they will attack, upon the attackers first touch the defending player looks to meet him at the cone, attacking player performs the "Xavi" Turn and is now in the next line with the defending player now in the attacking line.

Coaching Points:

1. Attack space at speed

2. Recognition of the space vacated by the defender and pressure of the defender

3. Use the defenders momentum against them to get into the space vacated in behind

4. Angle and distance of the touches to aid in protection and acceleration

5. Lower our center of gravity to aid in the turn

6. Final touch out of feet and breaking the line to accelerate into space

Progressions:

Race between defender and attacker, to their new lines after the attacker has performed the turn

Fully Opposed

Organization:

2 lines, 1 line attacking and 1 defending. Balls with the attacking line

Instructions:

On the attackers first touch, defender is live. Attacker look to dribbling and shot into 1 of the 2 goals, with the mindset of attacking the closer one first.  If the defending player wins the ball they can attack try to score through 1 of the 2 opposing goals as well. Switch lines after each rotation.

Coaching Points:

1. Attack space at speed

2. Recognition of the space vacated by the defender and pressure of the defender

3. Use the defenders momentum against them to get into the space vacated in behind

4. Angle and distance of the touches to aid in protection and acceleration

5. Lower our center of gravity to aid in the turn
