Set Up and Progression 1 (10 mins)

ORGANISATION:

10 players

1 Goalkeeper

Red Cone = Passers - 3 Players

Yellow Cone = Shooters - 2 Players

Green Cone = "Set"ers - 2 Players

Blue Cone = Servers - 2 Players

Balls Split between Red and Blue cones.

RULES:

Ball is passed from Red cone to Green Cone (1). Player at Green Cone plays it back into the path of the Shooter (2) who runs from the Yellow Cone and Shoots at goal (3).

After the player has had a shot, the Server at the Blue Cone throws a ball into the air (4)and the Shooter has to either Head or Volley at goal (5).

Each Player Moves Around One Cone CLOCKWISE. (Red to Yellow. Yellow to Green. Green to Blue. Blue to Red.)

MAKE SURE SHOTS ARE TAKEN FROM INSIDE THE BOX - MOST GOALS ARE SCORED INSIDE THE BOX.

PROGRESSION 1:

Play the opposite way, so the first pass will be from Green to Red.

TIME:

-Play for 3/4 minutes or until you run out of balls (ask players to fetch them as a break if you run out)

-Add Progression 1 and Play for 3/4 minutes.

KEY POINTS:

-Choose area to strike ball

-First Touch Out Of Feet

-Angled Approach to Ball

-Head/Knee Over Ball

-Which Part of Foot to Use

REASONS TO USE COACHING PROCESS:

- Trying to Curl - Strike wrong area of the ball or Using Wrong part of the Foot

- Shot goes over Bar - Player leaning back

- Accuracy - Shot goes wide - Need to use Sidefoot instead of laces

Progression 2 (5 mins)

Progression 2:

Red to Yellow. Yellow to Green. Green takes a first time shot and tries to Curl the Ball into the Far corner. Then gets a Serve from Blue cone - same as in the first drill.

Players still move around CLOCKWISE.

MAKE SURE PLAYERS SHOOT INSIDE THE BOX - MOST GOALS ARE SCORED INSIDE THE AREA.

Time:

-Play for 3/4 minutes.
