Warm-Up - Red Light, Green Light - 10 minutes (10 mins)

Equipment:

- All players have a ball inside half of field or 20x20 yard grid

Organization:

- Start with quickly refreshing a pull back - a move performed by using the bottom of your foot to stop the ball and pull it behind you (in one smooth motion), turn around and go the opposite direction

- Review last weeks new move 'J' Cut - done by pushing ball with outside of the foot while turning to go 180* from original direction - making a letter J with the ball

- "Green light" - Players move around grid randomly dribbling

- "Yellow light" - They move slowly around with small touches

- "Red light" - They use bottom of foot to stop ball (brake)

- "Super green" - Leave ball and sprint as fast as they can randomly within the space

- "Reverse" - Do a pull back (drag back)

- "Hard Cut" - 'J' Cut around a cone

Key Coaching Points:

- Lots of touches on the ball

- Pull back should be an "easier" move - while only a few older kids will be able to effectivly preform a "J" cut due to their coordination and motor skills... Focus on what they can do best, don't over correct the impossible

Island Hopping Pirates- 15 Minutes (40 mins)

Equipment:

- 3 grids set up on field that are bases or safe zones

- Ball for each player set in back of each zone

- Couple extra cones

Organization:

- Players move from island to island, without a ball, while trying to avoid being caught by Black Beard (players holding a cone)

- Once tagged players must perform a skill on a ball in back of zone(5 toe touches, 3 cut backs, 3 "J" cuts.....) in order to continue.

- Advance to players must move from zone to zone with a ball and Black Beards must now tag their ball (with their foot) not the player.

- Rotate Black Beards every minute or so

Key Coaching Points:

- Remind players to change direction to elude approaching defender - "J" cut/pull back/cut

- Smart runs - take advantage of defenders location to make it as easy for you

- For better players - try enforcing dribbling the ball with the foot on the other side the defender is approaching (shielding it)

Sharks and Goals - 15 minutes (40 mins)

Equipment:

- Half field with micro goal

- Teams split UNevenly with the larger team having the balls... 6v2 or 5v3 whatever works for team

Organization:

- Players with ball dribble around in space while defenders are trying to steal the ball

- When defender steals ball they may attack goal and shoot - after retreiving ball they start dribbling around in space staying away from defenders

- When a player looses the ball they must find a new ball and not try to steal theirs back

- Full field with 2 goals and 1 soccer ball

- Two teams 5v5 with 3 back players (defense) and 2 front players (offense)

Organization:

- Back players stay behind front players on field and front players stay in front of back players to help players become aware of simple space and organziation in positioning
