All cones should be placed 10 yards apart.

Aim

Player A begins by passing tpo Player B and then following the ball.

Player B passes to Player C and follows the ball. Player C receives the ball and dribbles out of the channel into the next channel before passing to player D and so on until the final player in the channel receiveds the ball and then runs quickly with the ball to the starting location. Play is then repeated.

Coaching Points

Receiving players must receive the ball on an angle - on the front foot.

The ball should be passed at a high tempo.

Gradually Introduce more balls into the channels so that eventually 3 balls are all being played within the channel at the same time.

Stamina training (20 mins)

Organisation

Create a grid containing 3 areas as above.

Split players into teams of 3 players.

Coach takes on the role of feeder.

Number players in the team in the middle area 1-3.

Aim

Coach feeds a ball to a player in either blue team.

That team must pass the ball between themselves 4 times before playing a long ball to the opposite blue team, who similarly try to play 4 passes between themselvews before returning the ball to the opoosite blue team.

Once the coach has passed the ball to a blue team player, the first red player sprints into that teams area and tries to obtain possession. If the red player obtains possession, he can either kick the ball out of the area or return the ball to the coach. The coach then plays a new ball to the opposite team. Each time the bal is passed to the opposite area, the red player must sprint between the two areas as quickly as possible.

Coaching Points

Play for 2 min per player.

Swap the teams after each player in the middle area has had a chance to defend.

Encourage movement of the blue team players - to create angles for passes.

Introduce an element of competition between the teams by awarding a point every time they make a long pass or, when their players are defending, every time they obtain possession.
