Technical (15 mins)

Heading -

40x30, 1 ball between 2. Players throw ball to partner who will header it back.

Progressions -

Defensive header - can the player head it over their partner

Attacking header - head it down towards their feet

Key Points -

Eyes open, mouth shut

Stay on your toes

Use your forehead to contact with neck and lower back muscles providing the power

Good stance - feet shoulder width apart

Follow through to target

Skill (15 mins)

Heading under pressure -

Set up as before but now in groups of 3. Player 1 throws the ball to player at point 2. Player 3 runs in to distract. Repeat with Player 1 running in from the front after throwing to provide pressure from a different direction.

Rotate players regularly

Progressions -

Again, work on defensive header (over feeder's head) and attacking (can you put it low to the side of the on-rushing defender

Key Points -

As with technical, maintain concentration and focus on ball despite pressure, look for accuracy

Game (20 mins)

Game -

40x30, 6 a side with GK, Free play to start.

Conditions (if required) -

GK to kick high out of hands

Players can use areas (labelled 1-4) to deliver a cross unopposed. If this is not having the desired affect they can pick up and kick out of hands or throw into the area.

A headed goal counts as 3.

Refelection (20 mins)

Reflection Action Plan:

The session was a good standerd. However i affected the session with my emotions as i came to the session in a bad mood. I let this effect me by shouting when people did things wrong and it wasnt right. A major point for next ime will be to not being personal problems to coaching sessions. Also the space we had to do the session was limited and needed to be bigger, again this is something that needs to be addressed before the next session. Overall im disapointed in myself for allowing my emotions to ruin what i hoped to be a positive session.
