Warm Up

Organization:

-Area: 5 x 5 x 5 yard triangle set up as shown

-2 players per triangle

-Each player with ball

Instructions:

-Each player begins to dribble outside triangle (players are not permitted to dribble inside triangle)

-Assign one player as tagger who then tries to dribble around shape to tag player

-Dribble for a set time limit then rotate

-Turning technique being used

-Head up to observe the other player

Main Theme I

Organization:

-25 x 25 yard area as shown

-12 Players (6 groups of 2, 1 Attacker, 1 Defender) as shown

-1 ball per group

Instructions:

-The objective is for (defending) player to provide passive pressure to (attacking) player with ball

-Attackers learns how to lose “shadow” (defender) with turning technique

-Defender attempts to stay as close as possible to the attacker.

-If defender is in arms length of attacker they score 1 point. If the attacker is out of arm distance from defender they score 1 point

-Rotate players after 5 repetitions

Coaching Points:

-Create separation from marker with proper turning technique and feints

-Awareness of all four goals

-A directional touch with the proper surface of the foot and weight

-Eyes look forward towards angle and space in which to attack

-To maximize optimal performance create strong athletic stance by keeping one hip in front of the other and lowering center of gravity to

-Pivot and explode off plant foot

-Frequently drop shoulder and add feints

Instructions:

-Objective is for defender to try to win ball back from attacker

-If defending player wins ball roles automatically switch

-If defender is in arms length of attacker they score 1 point

-If the attacker is out of arm distance from defender they score 1 point

Progressions:

P – Winners of each group play aganist one other. Players with the fewest points play one other

Conditioning Game

Organization:

-2-30x40 yard grid

-3v3 games

-4 Goals (can use cones to mark goals)

-5 minute games

-Objective is to dribble the ball into either net using turning techniques

-Kick-ins for restarts, no offside

Instructions:

-Objective is for either team to score as many goals in either goal by constantly changing point of attack and direction of play

-Cannot score in the same goal consecutively

-Create separation from marker with proper turning technique and feints

-Awareness of all four goals
