Welcome to Fall/Winter Warm Up (10 mins)

Welcome Game (10 minutes)

Players choose a partner (pairs)

Pairs stand on opposite lines

Coach calls exercises in order:

1. Run to centre, high five, return to the line

2. Run to the centre, call the colour of other players cleats, return to the line

3. Run to the centre, shout as loud as they can the team they support, return to the line

4. Run to the centre, shout as loug as they can the Club they play for (OSC!), return to the line

5. Run to the centre, group themselves by the team they support

SetUp

30x30 Area, full size goal

Organization

Attacking team starts with 3 players, defending team has 4, 2 active & 2 who play as targets. Attacking team must score by dribbling into zone 1 through one of the gates. Defending players can work together to create 2v1 situation with the second defender covering. If the defending team wins the ball they must find a target player.

Progression

Defending team can add another defender to zone 2. Attacking can send two players into zone 1 to make it a 2v2.

Intorduce high press/offside

Coaching Points

1st Defender - Close down quickly, pressure the ball. Slow down/delay the attacker

2nd Defender - Provide cover to double up for the dribble, positioning to intercept/block a pass/shot

Communication - Clear, commanding, detailed

Transition quickly

Pressure, Cover & Balance to Goal (25 mins)

SetUp

3 teams of 3, penalty area. One team defends, one attacks and one rests.

Organization

Attacking players in White after reveiving a pass from the GK must combine to create space and set up a shot on goal. Defenders in Yellow must work on staying compact and preventing penetration. If the defending team wins the ball the counter to small goals or pass to waitinf players. When the game is finished ball starts again with GK, white team now becomes the new defending team.
