Warm Up - Coerver Turns to find space (20 mins)

Coerver Turns

Activity 1 Setup: In groups of 3s, each player with a ball, 1st player dribbles 10 yards out and performs specified turn and then gets through gate as fast as possible. Next player ensues and goes through opposite gate. Coerver Turns to perform: Inside/Outside Chop, Stepover, Step On, Cryuff, Emerson

Coaching Points: Quality of moves, change of pace after. Be aware where you need to go and turn towards the correct gate

Acitvity 2 Set Up: In groups of 5s, 2nd player passes through legs of 1st, then becomes defender. 1st player gets ball and tries to perform turn and get to either gate.

Coaching Points: Same as activity 1. Position of defender dictates direction to turn. Be aware of defenders position.

Dutch Receiving Square Patterns (15 mins)

Set Up: 10 yard squares. Pass, then follow pass. Next player recieves and play continues. Go both directions. Players and ball should be kept out of the square.

Coaching Points: Quality and Pace/Weight of passes. Pass to correct foot. Move to recieve back foot, facing the play. Call for the ball (Communicate!)

Forward-Set-Slide: Introduce passing pattern as shown. Introduce Forward-Set-Slide terminology.

Coaching Points: Same as pattern 1. Timing of runs and passes. Communication of the forward-set-slide ball movement

Progressions: Use groups of 6 and start 2 balls on opposite corners. Can have them do moves before they pass.

4v1 Transitional Possession (15 mins)

Set Up: Groups of 4or 5 in adjacent 15x15 grids. One team plays keep ball Possesion while 1 defender tries to win ball and pass it to his team mates in adjacent square. Player who loses possession becomes defender in adjacent square. Game continues. If ball goes out of bounds, coach plays a new one in immediately.

Coaching Points: Receive back foot to space away from defender. Proper weight and pace of passes. Play the ball away from the defender. Keep the ball moving. Move to support teammates. Call for the ball.

Progressions: Play 4v2 or 5v2. Can players complete a Forward-Set-Slide and retain possession?

6v6 Forward-Set-Slide Possession Game (25 mins)

Set Up: Play Possessional 6v6 in (2) 20x30 adjacent grids. Team in possession can be in both grids, defensive team must all be in grid with the ball. To cross line and use whole grid, team in possession must use a forward-slide-set to "unlock" the adjacent grid.

Can add goals to score after the foward-set-slide.

Progression: Can they do a foward-set-slide combination using 3 different players?
