Wall Pass Warm Up Progression

In the first progression, the player plays the ball to the nearest CM and plays a 1-2 ball with that player. That CM touches the ball back into his path and he dribbles through the gate, then plays the ball to the next line. The passing sequence is repeated in the opposite direction. Sequence continues at high tempo for at least 5-7 minutes. Play one touch soccer if possible.

In the second progression, the player initiates the sequence by passing to first CM player and getting the ball right back. He then passes, through the gate, to the next line. That player, plays the ball to the second CM player, who plays it to the player who initiated the sequnce and then back to the player who is first in the next line. The sequence then happens in the opposite direction. Try to play one touch soccer. Communicate clearly your intentions.

Give & Go

In this activity, the cones are laid out in a classic Y-passing drill setup.

The activity is started when the initial passer plays the ball to the player at cone directly in front of him. He makes a 1 touch return pass and applies defensive pressure immediately. The two outside players check back into space to give the initial passer 2 options. The initial passer will choose the easiest option in regards to what the defensive pressure is giving them and then he will perform a wall pass to beat that defender. Once he receives the return ball of the wall pass, he immediately touches it "through" to the other attacker who is making a run "through the backline"

Players should get in groups of 4 and each time their group comes up, they rotate positions/responsibilities on the cones.

10 second Goal

The object is to get the ball to goal and in the back of the net in 10 seconds.

1 starts with a drop ball to 2. 2 continues to switch the point of attack out to 3, and 3 combines with 4 and then crosses back in to the runners.

1 will loop around and head to PK spot

2 will streak to back post

4 will camp around near post

Sharp, quick passes to penetrate space on the break.

5v3(add 2)

In this activity, the coach starts the drill with a ball into the attacking group. He will give a whistle or command which will signal for the two outside backs to take off and loop around the corner flags. This presents the offense with a 5v3 situation. They should look to make quick passes and score before the two outside backs return, presenting them with an even number situation (5v5).

The goal is to utilize the numbers advantage.

Defensive players always rotate one position to the right, so that its not the same players running around the flags and they are exposed to all positions across a back line.
