6v6 in Half field

Details

5V5 on the ground

players can pass the ball on the ground BUT....

in order to receive a point, players must chip/loft a pass into teammates hands.

 Defending team can not catch the ball in the air but in intercept with body

3 points for catching into assigned shaded areas

Organization

Short-Short-Long

One ball per group of 4. Players organized in opposite pairs.

15-20 yards apart to start

DETAILS

Passes 1-4 sequnce

Ball is played long to deepest player. Player walls with teammate and plays long. Ball striker becomes wall. Wall becomes new ball striker.

WALL PASSER USES OUTSIDE OF FOOT FOR PASS

Player lofting ball takes a touch to control before pass

Switch activity on 2 minutes

Progression 1: 15-20 yard ball on ground

Progression 2: 10-15 yard lofted for control with chest/thigh

Progression 3: 20-25 yard ball lofted

Progression 4: 30-35 yard driven off the ground

Coaching Points

Ball striking technique -MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON A CORRECT ANGLE

“get under the ball.” --place the standing foot behind the ball and to the side

-playing leg has to stretch a little to reach the ball

-playing foot strikes the ball as it is on its upswing as it follows through.

-Strike the underside of the ball in order to play it upwards.

-Strike the ball with the top of the foot, not the toe.

-Follow through with your weight on the standing foot.

Wall passer makes NO LOOK pass with outside of foot

1,2,3,4 passes labelled

Ball starts with midfielder

first pass (1) out to winger.

Winger plays ball into striker (2)

Striker bumps ball back to Midfielder (3) who either lofts ball (4) first time or takes a touch if needed

Winger receives ball down the line.

Crosses ball into Striker and midfielder for header or shot

MANY TIMES THE BALL GETS STALLED IN THE MIDFIELDER'S FEET WHILE THE DEFENSIVE TEAM HAS FALLEN BACK AND COMPACT. IN ORDER TO BREAK THIS LAST LINE, MIDFIELDER'S MUST BE CREATIVE. THIS PASS WILL ALLOW THE OPTION OF GOING OVER THE LAST LINE.
