Coaching striker after Mid wins the ball (25 mins)

Organization:

- quarter field, 12/13 players and a GK

- balls, net, pinnies

Attacking after winning ball in the middle

Play start with the GK looking to play for his Mid player. Red needs to close down quickly and win the ball to attacke right away.

Once Red Mid wins the ball, is looking to play into one of the strikers who tries to make space and pass back for one of the Center Mid to have a first touch and take the shot at goal.

Progression:

- Striker can look to spin around defender if space, to add another attacking option. Can also add 1 more Def mid and 1 Att. Mid, creating a 3 v 2 situation in center.

Combination play (25 mins)

Organization:

- 15 x 30 grid, set up as per diagram

- 12/ 13 players, nets, cones, balls, pinnies

Combination play

GK pass the ball to attacker run, Defender from one side comes in to close down on Attacker.

Attacker runs the ball at Def , makes a pass to one of supporting player. Supporting player plays ball behind defender into the run of other supporting player. Once AWall passer release the ball, a 2nd defender comes in to close down on Supporting running player, while the Attacker makes and overlap run as well, to create a new 2v1 to the 2 nets.

If first defender intercept the ball, can dribble across the attack line, to score a point.

Keep score and switch players often.

Coaching points:

- Attack with speed, front foot of defender

- angle of support, pass on the back foot

- timming of the run, acelerate in the space behind defender.

- Decision making in new 2 v1 situation, be creative

- Message in the pass, communication

Combination to force 1v1 finish (25 mins)

Organization:

- quarter field, as per diagram

- 12/13 players and a GK

- balls , cones ,pinnies, net

Combination to force the shot after a 1 v 1 situation

Player 1 make a pass wide to winger 2 , who takes a touch and dribble on outside. When closed by one Def., makes a pass towards centre, for running supporting player , who takes a touch to inside, changing direction and try to finish with L foot, before other Def close him down.

Play alternatively on both sides, to encourage L and R foot shots.

Switch L to R and Def with Att.

Coaching points:

- speed of the game, good first touch

- support the man / ball

- attack with speed and change direction

- good finish ( laces, head on top of ball, lock ankle, follow through)
