Rondo (variation) (10 mins)

Rondo variation (10 minutes)

2 defenders in the middle plus 2 playmakers. Like a normal rondo, but bibbed playmakers can help outside players. If outside player loses the ball, they (+ person to their left) replace defenders in the middle. If playmakers lose it, they swap bibs with middle defenders.

Pressing (10 mins)

Closing down (10 minutes)

Simple closing down drill too focus on technique. Couples as a fitness drill. Player passes to teammate and closes them down, then shadows them as they dribble the ball.

Get used to moving feet quickly. Approach player quickly, slow up, balance and then shuffle feet with a side on stance. Learn to shown into utside/inside

2v2 (10 mins)

2v2 (10 minutes)

Two teams, one at either end behind the gooal with half the footballs each. Coach calls the first team to attack. From there in its the winning team who attacks (unless ball goes out of play, then coach calls again).

Focus on marking distances and pressing, when to show inside. Also look at attacking, do they run straight or are they making movements?

Follow with a conditioned SSG.
