Warm up- Receiving,Turning (15 mins)

Organization:

-Circle 30 yards in diameter

-Half of players inside a circle without a ball

-Other half outside circle with a ball except 1 or 2 without.

Instructions:

Players in the middle are working and looking to receive a pass from the outside player and play him back with two touches. Players work for 45 seconds. After passng the ball bacl, players must go back into the square then accelerate out.

Progression:

one touch

half with a ball, player recieves it, turns and finds player without a ball.

Passing&Receiving (15 mins)

Set up:

In a 5x5 yard box depending on age, four lines with 2-4 players max. Set up a small agility excercise on two sides of the square(as shown in diagram.) Two balls to start.

Instructions:

Play starts when 2 lines(diagonal from eachother) passes the ball in clockwise order, to the next line. After they pass the ball, they follow their pass, either straight sprint to the next line, or if they have the cones on their side, they shuffle as quickly as possible through the cones then to the back of the line.

Then repeats with next player in line.

Coaching Points:

-Communication

-Light on toes, not flat footed

-Weight of pass

-QUALITY OF PASS-Firm pass, on the ground

-Eye on ball

-Positive first touch (make sure it is clean, the ball is close to them!)

-Part of foot/part of ball

-RECEIVE WITH BACK FOOT/ PLAY WITH OPPOSITE FOOT-very important.

Progression:

-Check away then receive it

-Go the other direction-counter clockwise

-Receive with different foot and pass with other foot.

-Change the type of agility through cones

Passing&Receiving Technical (15 mins)

Set Up:Working in groups of 3 (can use 4 if there are extra players), two players 10 yards apart with a ball and one working player in the middle without a ball.

Instructions:Player in the middle received the ball form outside player, controls it and passes it back in two touched. Then does the same thing on other side.

Coacing Points:-Quality of pass- middle of the foot, middle of the pass-Weight of pass- follow through the ball-Communication- verbal, eye contact with teammate.-Quality first touch- cushion it. Check shoulder as the ball is travelling, know whos behind you. Receive back foot, body is now open.

Progression:-One touch-Players now use one ball per group, player in the middle recieves it and plays to his other teammate using two touches. Receive with back foot and play with opposite foot, that way body is now open and you can see the field.

7v7 Small Sided Game Passing&Receiving (15 mins)

Set up:

Using a quarter of the field, play a 7v7 small sided game.

Instructions:

Coaching passing&receiving in s small sided game.

Coaching points:

-principles of play

-Communication- eye contact

-weight of pass

-quality of pass

-good first touch

-check shoulder

-Receive back foot, body is now open and can see the field.
