Warmup (10 mins)

Setup: 18x36 box. All players with a ball

Activity:

Players dribble inside the play area

On coaches command perform activity for 3o seconds

1. Inside Roll -- Roll the ball across your body from outside to inside with the inside and sole of the foot and stop the ball with the inside of the other foot.

2. Outside Roll -- Roll the ball across your body from inside to outside with the outside and sole of the foot and stop the ball with the inside of the same foot.

3. Side to Side Push-Pull -- Tap ball back and forth with inside of feet, push ball forward with one foot and pull it back the sole of the opposite foot.

4. Side to Side Step-On -- Roll ball to outside with the sole by stepping lightly on the ball, then tap ball back to the inside with the inside of the foot.

5. Side to Side Front Roll --Tap ball back and forth with inside of feet, push ball slightly forward then pull the ball across your body with the front part of the sole.

6. Pull Instep Push -- Push ball forward and pull it back with the sole, then tap ball forward with the instep of the same foot.

7. Pull a Vee -- Push the ball forward and pull it back the sole of the foot while turning and then take the ball with the inside of the same foot

Repeat left foot only

Aerial and Ground Control (10 mins)

Equipment: 1 ball per pair

Set area 20-25 yards wide and 40 yds long.

Players play a long pass to their partner starting with A. Pass is with pace along the ground. Player B receives with a good touch and then sends an aerial pass back to A. A in turn brings the ball under control with whatever body part is appropriate i.e. foot, chest etc... A then plays an aerial pass back to B and so on.

Coaching points:

Pace of pass on ground

Accuracy of aerial pass.

Good first touch reception.

Decision making on how to best control the aerial ball

SSG 3v3 (15 mins)

Equipment: 8 cones a ball 6 players, 3 pinnies

Setup, Create a box 20x 20. create 2 gates at either end Teams play 3 v3 for control of the ball. To score points, the ball must be sribbled through their opponents gate.

Ball control in tight quarters

Support angles for movement

Attack mentality to beat defenders

dribbling to shoot (20 mins)

Equipment:12 cones, 2 poles or mannequins, one ball per player

Line A dribbles through cones right foot approach manequin play ball off to the side and strike with right foot. Follow shot and collect ball and dribble at PACE with right foot to line B.

Line B dribbles through cones with left foot approach mannequin play ball off to the left and strike with left foot. Follow shot, collect ball and dribble at pace left foot to line A.

Progression 1: Perform a move on the mannequin i.e. fake shot and go, shoulder feint, maridona etc... prior to shot.

Progression 2: On reaching the mannequin, players turn and play a pass back to the teammate behind them who play the ball back to them. Player receives the ball with a touch away from pressure (the mannequin) and turns and shoots.

Coaching points:

Close touches through cones

Good movement on feints/fakes

Good touch past defender.

Toe down, laces on ball and head over when striking

Bigger touches and running with ball at pace to other line
