Technical Repetition: Unopposed to Fully (Ronaldo Chop) (25 mins)

Organization:

3-4 players per grid

1 Ball in play

Extra balls off to the side

Instructions:

Body Mechanic (Warm-up)

1. Same as Semi-Opposed, however players will pass the ball by tossing it with their hands. This will allow players to focus on their movements to beat the defender.

Technical Repetition

1. Player A takes a small trigger touch left or right.

2. Based upon the direction of Player A's touch, Player C moves to receive the ball in open space away from the defender (Player B), and Player D moves in the opposite direction of Player C to open up another passing lane.

3. Player B (defender) allows Player C to move away and receive the ball on their back foot.

4. Player C after receiving the ball from Player A on his/her back foot, plays the ball forward to Player D.

5. Player D receives the ball and dribbles forward to the gate ahead of them. As they reach the halfway line of the grid, Player D performs a Ronaldo Chop to change direction and head towards the other gate.

Semi-Opposed

1. After Player C receives the ball, Player B must go over to them and give them a high five before running to tag Player D on the shoulder. Player B (defender) can only run along the midline of the grid, and is not permitted to backwards or forwards from the line.

2. If Player B is able to tag Player D, he/she gets a point.

3. If Player D makes it past the defender, without getting tagged he/she gets a point.

4. Player D is not required to perform a Ronaldo Chop is the defender does not close down the space in time. He/She may dribble through the gate.

Fully Opposed

1. Player D is now allowed to move off of his/her line and apply pressure further up and down the field.

2. If he/she wins the ball, they will then look to earn a point by dribbling across the opposite line.

Rotation:

Player A > Player B > Player C > Player D > Player A

Coaching Points:

1. Option A - Can you go to goal? Mentality to beat the defender with speed.

2. If defender closes you down - can you get in front of the defender and cut across them if wanting to continue to dribble? Diagonal touch across the defenders pathway

3. Movement of non-kicking foot

4. Angle of body

5. Snapping of kicking foot

6. Ankle locked and toe up

7. Execution of move if they are looking like they will overshoot you

8. End product
