Services (10 mins)

start with playing to each other on the ground. each team patrols a 10x10 area.

drive ball on ground with laces and see to it that ball passes through other teams grid.

as you receive the ball look to lay off to your partner, receive a pass back from him, and drive it back across again to the other team.

progression. now we will look to play the ball in the air, can we play it so that the other team can catch the ball.

once we get comfortable floating the ball in the air lets look to float it so that the other team can just meet it with our head. remind them that the ball should be headed on the forehead, have them put the ball on their heads and watch them roll it down till they can see it. bounce it there. that is the forehead.

progression 2: can we play the ball so that it can be lofted and headed back with a jump header.

go over the mechanics of including the waist and torso torque required to redirect a ball back to where it was served.

progression 3: can we head the ball to our teammate, who catches it?

make a penalty box that the players can reference. goal in the spot. 8 yards wide of box is the sideline on each side. go 18 yards out for the box and an additional 10 yards beyond it so the players understand they must get INTO the box but wont necessarily start there to finish.

2) First player in line checks to second cone, recieves a pass from the second player, turns and shoots in two touchs

3) Player starts behind the cone, dribbles to end line and delievers a left-footed driven cross to player

starting on cone 3A

Stage II Small Sided Activity Kill, Cross, Finish

-Incorporates three different aspects of goalscoring

-Killer pass from CM back in behind CBs to forward, Cross from Wide player, finishing from top the box

- Seven different starting positions labeled A-G

-A, B, and C combine with C playing a diagonal ball splitting the CBs, for on-running D who finishes in no more then two touches

-As soon as D shoots, E and F combine in an overlap where E crosses the ball into crashing players, A,B,C,D

-After second finish from the cross, player G plays in a driven ball to player F who has recycled her run and hits it one time

Coaching Points:

-Everything is done at full-speed to put pressure on the cross to come in early and to challenge Players A, B, and C to get into the box early

-The quality of the passes and crosses must be high. Speed of play is important but quality of play is vital!
