WU I - Dismarking (10 mins)

Setup:

20x20x20 triangle

Activity:

Working on checking away and then back to ball. After combination take shot on goal.

After a few minutes, compete. Most goals scored in 1 minute (after using combinations around triangle).

Dynamic movements when back in line:

2 burpees; 4 lunges; 2 squats; 6 walking single-leg deadlifts

 Coaching Points:

~ "If I move away first, I want the ball to my feet"

~ Timing of losing marker, especially 2nd running who must factor in 2-touch from passer

WU II - Dismarking 2 (10 mins)

Setup:

20x20x20 triangle (setup 2)

Activity:

Working on checking to and then away from ball into space. Cross to goalie after combo.

After a few minutes, competition. Most successful crosses.

Coaching Points:

~"If I check to the ball first, I want it ahead in space."

~Timing of movement

~Close control on dribble in order to time pass

1v1+2 (20 mins)

Setup:

Grid setup with 10x10 grids as shown

2 teams of 7 plus 2 neutrals

Activity:

Neutrals work with team in possession to keep ball. All other players are locked up 1v1 in their grid forcing players in possession to lose marker. Once in grid with neutrals, complete 3 passes before finding new grid.

Coaching Points:

~2 movements to get open (at least)

~Move opposite of where you want ball

10v10 Lose Mark Rondo (20 mins)

Setup:

Half field setup as shown with wide areas and 8 yard zone for CBs to work.

2 teams of 10 (no GK)

Activity:

Team in possession tries to complete 10 passes for a goal.

Wide players are locked in zone.

CMs can go out wide to create overloads.

#9 can drop into midfield to create 4v3 overload.

Progression:

+ Score by getting ball from wide channel to other wide channel and back to where it started

Coaching Points:

~ 3 central midfielders using space properly

~ Losing markers at all times -- opposite movement

~ #2/7 being on opposite vertical planes (1 inside, 1 outside)

Setup:

70x40 grid as shown with side channels

2 teams of 8 - 3v3 in middle with 2v2 out wide (as shown in positions)

Activity:

Ball must get to all three channels before team can go to goal.

Coaching Points:

~#7/11 moving inside to create room for 2/3 to get forward (force defender into 2v1)

~Reading cues of when to make forward run: Player on ball has time and space

~Making two moves to lose marker (opposite of where you want ball)
