Passing Diamond (Combinations) (10 mins)

Activity:

Diamond Passing Pattern

Player 1 passes into 2 who then drives inside while player 1 overlaps and recieves ball and passes to 3. Player 3 performs a give and go with player 4 and then passes to player 5

Players move onto the next cone they were previously at.

Techcial Passing Pattern (15 mins)

Technical Passing pattern focusing on passing and movement off the ball.

Ball starts at the bottom of the diamond. See diagram for pattern. Players follow their pass.

Add in competition to emphasise speed of play.

Diamond is made bigger after successfully executing the smaller diamond.

Variations:

-Work the 2 groups together.

Coaching Points:

Quality of Pass: weight, accuracy and timing

Body position as ball moves around grid

1st Touch (PURPOSEFUL)

Quality movement after pass

Reading team-mates body position and reacting accordingly

Check in / out to create space

2 groups work to goal from a variety of situations:

1) Pass and set

2) Dummy and shot

3) Dummy and shot w/ covering defender

4) Sideways pass and 1st time shot

5) Overhead throw and volley

6) Cross and finish
