Set-up

Cone off area of pitch as shown.

Attacking team play with 5 players & 1 server.

Defensive team with 4 outfield & 1 GK

Work with the attacking team only. Play starts with Server. If the defending team win possession can they clip it into the Server as quickly as possible?

- Play starts with CM creating a passing line for Server (CB) to play the number #10's feet. #10 should be alert to HM movements

- CM is to then to create a angle to recieve the pass off #10. CM's angle of body and movement should be made to allow him to play forward.

- W (winger) should be alert to the pass from #10 to CM, as the pass is made to CM this should trigger the movements of both W & FB. The winger should be looking to come in field to allow space for FB to overlap. This will allow the FB to overlap and latch on to the CM's pass.

- Can the FB deliver a cross into the second six yard box? Attackers, #9 & #10 will look to attack the second six yard box and score.

Key Factors

- All players to create space to recieve ball on there safe side

- Look to play forward early

- Triggers for players to react, early reaction is needed to play forward quickly and early.

- Quick combination play between units

- Variation of attack.

- Can Server play W, to set #10 to play behind defensive line for FB?

- Can Server play FB who then plays #10 early. #10 then sets CM to play a pass behind the defensive line for FB.

Set-up

9 v 9

Defending team (red) play a 4-2-2 formation (if defending team win possession can they play there wide players early.

Attacking team (blue) play a 3-4-1 formation, as to create overloads in wide areas. Coach the attacking team only.

Game begins with Attacking GK playing to CB. CB must look to play forward early. Attacking team must look to create overlaps using various passing combinations.

Key Factors

- Start position of Wingers & FB, do they go high and wide when GK is in possession?

- Do the CM look to create a passing line to from CD to #10 by his movement? This will allow the team to play forward quickly

- Movement of FB to create overlap, curved or straight run?

- If FB recieves the ball and is closed down, how do the Winger and #10 react? Do they create another overlap? Can the #10 recieve the ball to play out to opposite wing?

- Defensive shape, does FB on opposite site come narrow to his CB when the ball is with the FB? If play breaks down do the wingers drop back if FB is out of position?

- End product, does opposite Winger attack the back post, can Wide player who has cut in to create the overlap position himself for a pull back from FB on the edge of the box?

- Encourage the attacking team not to force the overlap, keep possession if it is not possible.

- Quick transition from defense to attack, do FB's split & wide players push high and wide. Do players look to recieve the ball on the half turn to play forward early?
