Warm up (15 mins)

Organization: All players inside the grid. Grid size 20x20.

Instructions:

1) Foxes and farmers - no ball. 2 farmers, rest are foxes and have pinnies tucked in their shorts as tails. If farmer pulls a pinnie out of the fox, they become a farmer.

2) Foxes and farmers - ball in hand. Same as above but the ball must be balanced in the palm of the hand.

3) Foxes and farmers - ball on floor. Same as above but dribbling a ball this time.

4) Ball mastery - 50 touches left/right/both/turns - skill challenge (swivel-hips, inside step over)

Practice 1 (10 mins)

Organization:

Players split in half, 2 attackers v 1 defender. 2 gates to dribble through either side for attacker, if they manage to they get 1 point. If defender wins the ball they must stop the ball on the opposite line for 1 point. 20x20 grid.

Instructions:

- Teams take it in turns to try and score (dribbling through end zone) as soon as ball goes out or player scores, next pair goes. Must have ball close when they pass the line to count.

- 10 second countdown per match.

Coaching Points:

- Get in line to receive the ball and Head up to locate goal

- Recognition of defender (speed of approach)

- Choice of which goal to attack based on defender's pressure

- Quick decision to perform move

- Head up to find goal, seal off defender after move and accelerate to goal

Progressions/Regression:

P - Change players / smaller space.

R - Add goals / bigger space / change players.

Practice 2 (15 mins)

Organization:

Same as before. 2 v 1.

Instructions:

- Players to practice the technique of swivel hips. Passive defender.

Coaching Points:

- Identify the correct time to use skill.

- Open hips when approaching opponent as if to play ball.

- Have to fool the defender so exaggerate with arms and head.

- Accelerate away with big touch from inside of the foot to get ball out of feet and head up.

- End product.

Progressions:

- Defender becomes active.

Practice 3 (10 mins)

Organization:

- 3v3 tournament - World Cup. Every team plays everyone else. 3-4 minute games.

Instructions:

- 3 goals for every time the ball is put in the net, 1 point for stopping the ball on the end line.

Coaching Points:

- Recognition of time to beat the defender.

- Dont be afraid of trying to beat them, go for it!

Progressions:

- Space bigger / change players on teams.
