Technical (25 mins)

Passing/receiving lines. Cones roughly 15 yards apart

3 touch passing. Follow your pass.

-1st touch out of feet at an angle (little pass to yourself) to get running with ball and get eyes up

2 touch passing. Follow your pass.

- passer runs directly at receiving player.

- receiving player now takes a weighted directional 1st touch past player running towards him (away from pressure)

- initiate contact with ball. Don't let ball get on to you, little movement towards to receive.

- be balanced in approach to ball to get proper contact on ball for pass. No bouncing/spinning balls.

- 1st touch out of feet, eyes up to sight target and stride into pass.

Pass then get to one of the cones on left or right to support. Play back to line and return to same line.

- get to cone on left to receive with right foot (back foot receiving)

- work on both sides to work both feet in receiving

- shoulders should be open to see ball and direction you're trying to play

- as nearing cone to support, you should be checking/scanning back towards where you're trying to play

- time movement to cone so you're not standing at cone when ball arrives. Arrive just as ball does.

Progressions- race & keep score for each section. For last portion, get players waiting to receive to raise 1 or both arms as player goes to cone to support. Supporting player MUST say how many arms are raised BEFORE they receive the ball. If they don't their group is disqualified.

Skill (30 mins)

8 v 4. Timed possession activity. Go for 75 seconds. Keep track of what team of 4 causes most turnovers.

- players in possession need to open space up as much as possible

- get to best supporting angles/distances at just the right time, not too soon. (drop down/open up)

- players in support in wide areas and finding gaps in the middle of the field, looking to play through.

- first touches should be away from pressure

- play from high pressure to low pressure

- send a message with your pass & supporting presentation (play to back foot, front foot, weight, etc)

- constant scanning of environment! Where is the ball, the defenders, my teammates, the boundaries?

- try to put as little spin on the ball as possible when playing quickly away from pressure

SSG (25 mins)

SSG 4v4 w/ 2 targets for each team. Targets play between post of goal and boundary of grid. Keep possession until you can play into one of your supporting targets, who then have to return a pass 1st time into an attacking area for a teammate to try to finish on goal. Progress to 3 points for a goal from targets, 1 point for any goal not played to targets.

- targets must be moving along line to get into supporting angles

- make space as large as possible in possession. Don't force the ball into targets.

- check into supporting space at right time, not too soon (drop down/open up/push on)

- constant scanning of surroundings

- shoulders should be open to ball and targets whenever possible

- first touch away from pressure

- players away from ball need to look to attack space in front of goal when played into targets
