Stage II Small Sided Activity “9v5 Possession”
-Play in a 50x40 grid with 9 possession based players and 5 defenders
-All play starts from coach's feet
-Possession team looks to get 7 passes in a row
-Defending team is looking to win the ball, and dribble out of the grid. Must “posses” out, can’t just clear the ball
- Possession Team: 7 passes = 1 point, Defensive Team: 1 ball taken out of grid = 1 point
Coaching Points:
- Team shape, support in attack, creating and using space, passing, and receiving.
-Know where you’re going before you receive the ball. “Head on a Swivel”
-Speed of play, how fast can you get you the 7 passes?/How fast can you win the ball?

Stage III Expanded Small Sided Activity “21’s/Four Gate Possession”
-8v8. 9v9, 10v10 etc. even numbers
-Teams strive to completed 21 passes, do not have to be consecutive
-Start off with unlimited touches, once 21 is reached, progress to 2 and 1 touch
Progression:
-Add four gates in the corners
-A team scores when completing a pass through the gate

-One 10x10 grid with 5 Possession based players, two lines of defending players
-One defender goes into the grid once the coach plays the first ball into the grid
-Defender has 10 seconds to win the ball or must go to the back of the line

-Concept of “immediate chase”
-Possession based team must play quickly
-Know where you are going before you receive the ball
