Turn reps/ warm up (30 mins)

Organization of Session

Players divided into working groups on cones - MOVING CONES BACK from touches/warmup

Everyone with a ball, use extras as extras - ideally only need two balls, helps the activity flow correctly

Distance varies on type of dribbling/running with ball you want to work on

- TURNS:

- Inside of the Foot Turn with Furthest foot from defender - Pressure on inside hip (allows for man-man-ball individ shape)

- Outside of the Foot Turn with furthest foot from defeder - Pressure on oustide hip (allows for man-man-ball individ shape)

- Turn Open - Receive with FAR foot, let ball roll across body/turning side on pushing on a new angle in - perform when pressure is off or away from our body

Key Points

1 - 1st player in group from each side checks (runs to demand the ball on an angle) - Go right 3-5 mins, switch to Left 3-5 mins for every "turn"

2 - 2nd player in group passes to player checking for the ball from opposite side/group on inside of flag/into players run/space where demading the ball

3 - Checking player near each flag, performs precribed turn

4 - Ideally playing ball after trun in next touch or 2 steps to his starting group

RELOAD - "Passer" recieves ball, looks to make sure ball at opposite side, then checks direction prescribed to repeat activity

Coaching Points

- Why we check on an angle? To make individ/group space in attack, create space from defender, maintan athleticism by "doing it moving"

- Present receiving surface, cushion and move body to and thru the ball direction we want to turn

- Passing Pride - pace, texture, proper space vs to feet

- Quality First Touch = ball far enough we can be moving and get head up to make decision/see; close enough that we can manipulate the ball (dribble, move, feint, strike, pass)

- TURNS - make sure to relate to the game of how defenders pressure/positioning dictates the turn applicable - (This is often missed in most trainings) - READING THE GAME

1v1 Turns

Organization of Session:

- Groups of 4 players per area

- Area's are set up side by side in 10x15

- Players in the middle get a point by connecting a pass from one outside player to the other. Depending on the success rate players may be able to pass back to target they recieved it from to reload their run.

- The 3rd. grid is if you have too many players for groups of 4 you can add 2 additional players to the other outside edge. This means one player would connect with targets North and South while the other would connect East/West.

Key Points

- 60-90 Sec rounds

- Recognition of when to check at an angle for the ball both by the checking player and passing player.

- No static movement/ recognition of where the defender is in relation to the ball/player

Coaching Points

- Why we check on an angle? To make individ/group space in attack, create space from defender, maintan athleticism by "doing it moving"

- Present receiving surface, cushion and move body to and thru the ball direction we want to turn
