Warm-up

Organization:

1 player and 1 ball

Instructions:

Each player has a ball and looks to penetrate the gaps in the defence

Coaching Points:

1. Looking to penetrate with dribble

2. Keeping posession if not by turning

3. Head up to find gaps

4. Change of technique based on pressure Progressions:

5. Take some balls away so players are looking to penetrate with pass

Progression: 1 ball for two players.

Players work to pass the ball through gaps created within the players around them.

Main Activity -Possession Game

Organization:

2 teams of 6, each team is split into 2 groups of 3. Each group is in a channel.

Instructions:

Each team must stay in channel and try to penetrate with a pass through to their team mates

Coaching Points:

1. Checking before receiving the ball

2. Looking to penetrate 1st and possess if not have Patience

3.Players finding gaps

4. Head up observe target

5.Quality of pass to get the ball through the middle grid

6. Stretch the defenders.

7.Timing of long pass - Don't force it. Progressions/Regressions:

Progressions:

-Allowing 1 player to go in and defend

-Player with ball may now dribble across the line to find teamates on the other side.

Conditioned Game

Organization:

6 vs 6 but 3 vs 3 in each half

Instructions:

Players play normal soccer rules but can not enter into opposite half

Coaching Points:

1. Looking to play forward if you can

2. Retaining possession if not

3. If 1 vs 1 can you penetrate by dribbling Progressions:

1 player may join in when ball enters area
